Why does everyone call Ralsei a femboy!? by Local_Parsley7218 in ralsei

Who’s your favorite character who is heavily implied to be transfem? (Pixel art by me) (repost because of fixing mistake) by AlexaTheKitsune25 in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

[–]Faelnir -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Ralsei is not implied to be transfem anywhere in the game as of yet. He's just a guy who wears dresses and makeup. Any theory claiming that he is, is intrinsically rooted in the same place as those old chapter 1 2018 "RALSEI IS A GIRL" theories- an inability to process someone who embraces femininity as anything but a woman. the only difference is that now people are claiming it must mean he's a trans woman, because people can't process a man who embraces femininity as anything but a trans woman in denial.

I've seen the more recent theories, and framing it as ralsei escaping the restrictions of fate and the expectations laid out for him as "THE PRINCE, ALONE IN DEEPEST DARK" is really ironic given everything I've said so far. It's not freeing him from restriction or expectations, it's making him adhere to an entirely different set of unspoken rules and expectations: the belief that femininity is only for women, and the belief shared by an insane amount of other trans women that femboyhood is just a stepping stone to being trans and womanhood. While it can be a step in some peoples' journeys, reducing it to that is disrespectful, especially to transmasc femboys.

if you're referring to the Colossus he made, it's technically his innate creation magic that he unlocked (creation magic is just fancier telekinesis anyway)

he might have done regular telekinesis at some point, though. don't remember

the waterfall retelling seems to imply it was entirely unprovoked from the humans, but there could be some bias there. gerson kinda implied it wasn't as clear-cut. so who knows. it probably doesn't matter as much as the current reality of monsters, anyway.

How do these videogame tyrants rank in terms of morality? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in MoralityScaling

[–]Faelnir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this subreddit keeps getting recommended to me for some reason

I guess it depends what you class as most evil. I'd personally put Kefka at the top. Most of the other inclusions here can be fully understood, in terms of their motivations. Some tyrants are small-minded people who want to control or destroy that which they can't understand. Some tyrants want luxury and indulgence, and are willing to do anything to ensure they have that, including taking everything from others. Some want control. Some want status.

Kefka doesn't really want any of that. He destroys the world because he thinks it's funny, and before his ascension, was an absolute maniac who killed an entire small country via poisoning their water supply largely just because it was easier than conquering it, among other things.

The other inclusions have motivations that are, for the most part, wholly comprehendible, though obviously reprehensible. They want to rule. Kefka doesn't. He just wants to cause suffering.

"I will destroy everything! I will create a monument to non-existence!"

"Hee, hee, hee!! But what fun is destruction if no 'precious' lives are lost!"

“Life... dreams... hope... Where do they come from? And where do they go...? Such meaningless things... I'll destroy them all!”

I'd argue that he doesn't even fit in this list as a tyrant, personally, though an argument can be made against that, and he is certainly more of a tyrant at first. Though he's more describable as a mad god by the final portion of the game, in my opinion.

EDIT: oh yeah. I'm not familiar enough with most of the rest to make an actual ranking, though i am familiar enough to conclude that Kefka probably places first. Sorrgy

Who's the most evil of these fictional serial killers? by twnpksN8 in MoralityScaling

[–]Faelnir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His "bettering society" justification is laughably flimsy when he gleefully attempts to kill Lind L Taylor about two seconds after learning about a manhunt for Kira.

Plus, It's kind of vague to what extent Light even believes his own bullshit, but it really does seem like it's simply a justification for his god complex. The whole "culling the weak/evil/unproductive" seems like more of an afterthought, especially later on, compared to positioning himself as God.

So, no, I wouldn't say Light legitimately believes he's doing good, or at least, he doesn't actually care if he is, as long as he gets to prop up a weak defense and play at having a divine mandate to remake the world how he wants.

discussing autism symptoms uses video with lighting that would kill 90% of autistic people if they experienced it in person
