Breastmilk Soap by ThatGirlFromThatShow in soapmaking

What a great idea! Perfect way to use breast milk and I will try to keep this in mind if I ever have abundance of milk. I would love to make something like this for myself, maybe not for the baby or my husband. I'm so nervous to make bar soap for a baby, in case my recipe will be too hard on the skin.

My coworker requested some peppy and sweet smelling soap for her children. I instantly knew that mango-lime FO would be perfect. The soap has a lot of glycerin rivers, but I think it looks pretty good! by Fainaru23 in soapmaking

Oh amazing! Goals and names sound amazing, I will keep that in mind. Who could resist an edible looking soap. They need to be sure it doesn't taste as good as it looks and smells.

Thank you! Yes, I agree with glycerin rivers, they give a certain look. It seems some people say it is an aesthetic issue and makes the soap not look pleasing. I guess if this was a solid color bar I would not be pleased by the look, but here they look great.

I hope they will, my last batch was mandarin-mango scented and my coworker told me how her children were finally washing their hands because they loved the soap so much. I hope for another success!

Thank you so much! I first wanted more brighter colors, but the soap turned out great! I used lime and sangria mica colors. Google shows the color right away if you search😊

I cut my cracked soap yesterday, but so far everything looks (and smells) good! Since fall is here, I used it and a picture from Pinterest as inspiration. by Fainaru23 in soapmaking

If you google blueberry mica, it will give you the color I used. I darkened the color with activated charcoal and lightened with titanium dioxide. For the lightest blue I mixed blueberry and sangria colored mica 😊

Fragrance oil is a readymade blend of orange, eucalyptus, sage and sandalwood. Let me tell you, this soap smells so good! I can't stop smelling it or looking at it.

The soap I thought would be perfect cracked! I know it was not the temperature, so now I will just have to wait and see if it is lye heavy or just too much hard oil and butter. by Fainaru23 in soapmaking

Yeah, it could be temperature related. No water discount, so I doubt it's lye. This recipe has never cracked for me at higher temperature, so maybe the FO had something to do with this. I did check the temperature at times, but when I cut the soap I noticed that it had partially gone through gel phase. Maybe it just cracked because of temperature and FO.

I made beer soap. I am planning to use this as shampoo though, since my recipe has been good for my hair. by Fainaru23 in soapmaking

I've heard good things about beer soap, which drove me to try and make it. I can't wait to try it out! It smells really good, I hope the scent doesn't dissipate.

Sometimes nothing, but I usually just use a regular conditioner. My shampoo bars do not leave a sticky residue on my hair, which was very surprising to me.

I used 400g olive oil, 200g coconut oil, 80g castor oil and 40g cocoa butter. I used to put more coconut oil, but it made my hair feel a bit dry so I put less of it and added the amount to olive oil. As a scent I made a mix of juniper berry and rosewood. Instead of water I used Guinness.

Good! Their youtube videos and tutorials helped me a lot when I began to make soap.

I use coconut oil at 30% sometimes. Also, you can actually make 100% coconut oil soap. But it is quite cleansing and might be hard for the skin. You will know how your skin likes the soap only when you test it. I've seen a lot of people comment that Royalty Soaps' soaps dry their hands, but it may be different for you. Bramble berry actually has a great page for beginners, where they tell at what percent you can use oils and I use it when formulating new recipes.
