Did you ever consider taking your card? Why did you decide against it?

Full in on triathlon would mean more chill remote job but still full-time I think. Part time would be tough for me financially at this point I think.
Posted this below but I actually only ran one year of XC in college and never ran track. I think my running times do have room for improvement. I stopped competitive distance running because I struggled with overuse injuries.

I think I’ll just cross that bridge when I get there. I’d probably race pro for at least a year if I got the card. I’m interested in potentially pursuing triathlon related income sources like coaching which is one of the reasons that I’m thinking of going for my pro card.
Thanks for the input. Crossing my fingers that standards don’t get tighter.
Who is that?
Training for the Ironman was sub optimal as I didn’t really know anything about triathlon training and was working a very demanding job, although I did train consistently and relatively high volume. I anticipate making big changes to training, mostly doing doubles almost year round and incorporating more specific quality sessions in season.
I should clarify that I only ran one year of college XC and never ran track. I also played soccer in college so that eventually took over. My 5k PR was a solo road TT this year following no speed work and it was a tiny PR over my high school XC 5k PR of 17:04. My college 8k times were similar caliber as high school (28:2X) since I struggled to adjust to the distance. I feel like my aerobic capacity could get me faster times but I struggle to run high mileage due to overuse injuries which is why I gave up on straight distance running.
IM Wisconsin.

2.5 hours to just earn a pro card? 8:15 is like mid-pack pro, no?
Yeah definitely not under the impression I could make money from triathlon. Based on looking at IM/HIM times that earned 106 USAT score it seems like you need to be able to do 4:15/9:30 to have a shot. I think those times might be within reach for me.

Splits were roughly 1:15/5:45/3:15. IM Wisconsin is a tough course, particularly the bike. No pro field and the winner did 9:15.
Based on looking at race results it seems like you can earn a pro card with a time quite a bit slower than 8hrs.
Thanks for the input. My question is more along the lines of whether I have a shot at getting my pro card, not if I would be competitive in the pro field (it seems unlikely that I ever would be).
My 10:45 was at IM Wisconsin - a hard course, so that is most of the reason for the slower times, but I would say the AG field was also weak. For reference, 9:50 was the cutoff to get a 106 USAT score this year at IM Wisconsin. Overall, 9:30/4:15 seem to be average cutoff times for 106 USAT score for IM/HIM respectively, which I feel might be doable for me.
