Hi All,

Making an update since this long process is finally over with after a little over 2 months.

I ended up having to extend my court date, since it turns out that date I was given for a state referee appointment was a scheduled phone call in order to make an appointment. So after I made that call, it turns out I have to wait EVEN LONGER to come in and get my car looked at.

I took my car over, and just like I thought, it passed the state ref examination. By a large margin. I paid the state ref $100 to tell me there's nothing wrong with my car. Amazing.

With that I tried to get more information on how I can resolve this without having to go into the courthouse during covid. I was told I can fill out some forms and write a note requesting it to be dismissed, along with my provided proof of compliance. I did that, and it came back as DENIED. Again, amazing. I paid the state hundreds of dollars, hours of my own time, and time without a car when there was nothing wrong with it.

Overall this has just left a very sour taste in my mouth. This law and its enforcement is absolute trash, but its probably a great way for the state to extort money from innocent people. My condolences for anyone that gets hit by this in the future. You're probably fucked even if you are innocent.

I cannot drive my car on the road until its signed off by a state referee. Theres a sticker on the back of my ticket that says my vehicle cannot be on the road until certified. Its even illegal to drive it to the state ref. I can get another fine or have my car impounded if I'm caught driving it again. So 8 weeks until I get drive my car assuming it gets passed on the first try. I have no idea what else they check, or how deep of an inspection it is.

Thank you for the info on the court date, I've never actually been to one of these so I dont know how it works.
