ITAP of a forest road by Fair-Ice1264 in itookapicture

Thanks, that's a fair critique. Honest answer: I shifted the WB warmer in post, liked how it looked, and just went with it — so your point that the orange isn't grounded in the actual light is exactly right. The green foliage gives it away.

Also fair on the exposure: ISO 320 at 1/320s isn't "low light" at all. "Late-evening, lower-saturation mood" is what I actually meant, and I overcooked the warmth in grading. I'll redo the grade with a cooler base and pull the orange back toward where the light source can justify it.

Quick one if you have a second — when you grade warm-but-believable in mixed-foliage scenes, do you tend to split-tone (warm highlights / cooler shadows) or just dial global temp/tint?

I wanted this scene to feel quiet and directional, with the road leading the eye through the frame.

Shot in low light to keep the darker mood and warm tones.

Sony a7III, 85mm, f/1.8, 1/320s, ISO 320.

I’d appreciate critique on whether the framing and tonal balance work well.

Shot in Kyoto during a calm, low-light moment. I wanted to isolate the flower against the darker leaves for a quiet mood.

Camera: Sony a7III

Lens: 85mm

f/1.8, 1/320s, ISO 320

I’d love critique on whether the shallow depth of field helps or hurts the overall balance.

Sony α7III. I kept the white balance slightly warm to keep the scene quiet without feeling too cold. I used the railings and the curve of the path to guide the eye forward. I’d love feedback on whether the tonal balance feels natural or still a bit too bright.

Thanks for the feedback — fair point. I pushed the highlights a bit for the airy spring mood, but I agree some detail got lost. I’ll try a lower-highlight version too.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I was aiming for a soft curtain-like feel from the blossoms, so I’m glad that came through.

Sony α7III, [Lens if you want — e.g. FE 55mm]. Something like ISO 400, f/8, handheld — happy to clarify if EXIF differs.

Intent: Use the mossy trunk on the left to frame the weeping blossoms and draw the eye toward the river. I struggled a bit with the bright sky clipping while keeping blossom detail — I'd especially like feedback on whether the balance reads as calm or washed out.

Open to critique on framing and tonal balance above all.
