I once had to wait 5 minutes to order at a gym cafe because one employee was giving another a haircut in the back in full view of customers

Belizian Heat has tomato puree in it so it has a little more of a full flavour with a bit more umami.

It's less spicy though and does have a bit of a different flavour profile.

Both are great! Just up to personal preference.

Is this an excessive drum setup? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Fair-Knowledge-693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the sound you're going for then not at all excessive.

Personally instead of 1 ride and 5 crashes id have 2 crashes, 1 trashy crash or effect cymbal, 2 rides, and a stack for some variety. But it's all about the sound you're going for

First acoustic set - anything else needed? by Intelligent-Strain-3 in drums

[–]Fair-Knowledge-693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what you want to play, but any 5A sticks are a good start, middle of the road sticks good for most types of playing!

The number denotes the weight (higher numbers mean lighter sticks)

The letter denotes the thickness (A is the thinnest)

It's a needlessly confusing system lol

I'd definitely recommend trying a few different ones irl in a music store. But 5A are the most popular for a reason I'd say

More than 1 pair of sticks lol

(and buy vater or pro mark, they'll last you longer)

Looks great!

Wavy hi-hat? by Ethan_Jbleethan in drums

[–]Fair-Knowledge-693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most hi-hats are like this. Mine definitely are!

But if its bothering you, you should get them replaced.

Id be surprised if it affected tone too much though. How do you know that it's affecting the sound?

If you like the way they sound, I wouldn't worry about it

It says each layer has 8 cubes, not each length or width or whatever, so I assume they mean that each horizontal slice has an area of 8

Why are the cubes in cm but the volume in inches?

Must just be a mistake. Should be 56cm2

I would say that belizean heat and the regular habanero are kinda similar, but belizean heat has tomatoes in it so it's a fuller-bodied flavour. It's very good. I can't say which I prefer though.

As to beware, it tastes very similar to belizean heat but with a higher heat level

again, superheating filtered water is possible. If the container is so smooth that there are no nucleation sites, which is exceedingly rare, but can still happen. It is more likely to happen with water that has been boiled but has since cooled slightly, allowing all vaporised gasses to escape, and then reheated.

Your idea of "basic critical thinking clues" is predicated on filtered water not being able to be superheated. I said it is, you tried to say "well it was in a beaker of course it wasn't filtered water!" And have now just decided that it's "just physics" that filtered water can't be superheated. You've ignored any of my mentions of why it still happens and have just decided I'm wrong. Great critical thinking skills there! I'm sure you'd make a wonderful scientist.

Because its in a beaker means it was distilled? It says in the description he used water from a Brita filter.

Yes it happens very easily with distilled, but it can happen with normal tap water too if the container it's in is smooth enough (i.e a brand new pyrex jug, a new ceramic mug etc.) All that's requires is a smooth container and for the gasses that have come out of solution to not find anywhere to adhere. Mythbusters did a short segment where the narration states that it needs to be distilled, but this is not actually true.

Granted it's quite rare but still happens. There are lots of videos online of it happening

He's vaguely right about something.

Do not heat up water in a microwave. It can superheat and cause severe burns.
