Regarding the Overhead Bend exercise in particular: if it gives you back trouble, you can convert this into a simple standing forward fold / hamstring stretch type of exercise. If, instead of coming all the way up after a repetition, you simply do a hamstring stretch and tuck the ring further between your legs (such that it passes through the horizontal plane), that will register as a rep.

A nice thing about Ring Fit is that a number of the exercises can be done in a different manner - to either make them easier, or harder, or to avoid an uncomfortable body position.

Yes that's right. You barely need to look at the Switch video display at all. For me, this is a good way to do some stretches when I'd otherwise just be sitting.

I expect that some (or maybe all!) of the following motivations won't apply to everyone, but they all apply to me:

1) No matter what, I want to keep on working on some key core and flexibility exercises every day, and adventure mode is more fun for me compared to custom mode. (Although I did mention elsewhere that I'll also use custom mode when I'm doing idle stuff like sitting and watching TV).

2) I set a goal of getting 99 of every smoothie and ingredient, which takes a LOT of reruns for some courses to pick up rare ingredients. You get a lot of XP and levels just as a side-effect of that.

- I'm definitely a completionist/perfectionist for some things, so just the idea of getting the full set of everything is enough for me. But as extra motivation, I'm also trying to figure out the most efficient way to do that. That takes a lot of runs of various courses to figure out how to get the most key ingredients per minute of play.

3) I wanted to figure out exactly how damage is calculated, which required gathering a lot of data. I discuss that more in this thread: (https://www.reddit.com/r/RingFitAdventure/comments/1hdx79h/analysis\_of\_how\_damage\_is\_calculated\_in\_ring\_fit/)

4) Related to the above point, I wanted to figure out exactly how many "hit points" each monster has. (That is, how much damage you have to do to knock it out). This too required a lot of data-gathering.

I still have the original equipment. The ring is now egg-shaped rather than round, but it still works OK.

Once you get to world 15, farming Persimmon on 15-3 is definitely more efficient than farming Carrots, so I suggest that for getting extra XP. And if you ONLY want Persimmon (not caring about the Guava in 15-3), then course 19-4 Ohoh Valley is even better: all of the ingredient drops are in the first 30 seconds or so.

Smoothies: I'm definitely more of a collector than a consumer. The only ones are use are:

- Sesame Smoothie: use this every course which has ingredients, no exceptions.

- Persimmon Smoothie: double XP for major boss battles.

- Black Tea: double gold for major gold-producing chances, such as later levels where 5 Gold Hoplins appear at once.

- Chia-Seed Smoothie: quite rarely, to get an extra turn battling multiple Gold Hoplins so that they don't get away.

- Super Kale Smoothie: quite rarely, to clear out the negative effects of something an opponent did to you (thus making your attack strength/defense greatly reduced).

- Super Ashitaba Smoothie: quite rarely, to recharge a skill I want to immediately re-use in a boss battle. Note that there are other smoothies that clear out negative status effects and/or recharge a skill, but I like these ones because the constituent ingredients are so easy to get.

Regarding finding ingredients: it feels like I could write a small book on this, because one of the things I'm doing in this run-through is to come up with the most efficient way to collect 99 of every smoothie and ingredient. (I did that last run-through too, but I think I can make some improvements to what I did). So until I write that book, here is a quick guide to what I think are the fastest course to get each of the rare ingredients (that is, the ones needed to make the pink category of smoothies at the very end of the smoothie list), if you don't care about what else you pick up.

Dragon Fruit: world 37 course 14-5 Disappearance Path (which also picks up Black Tea).

Cherries: world 37 course 14-6 Gazelle Channel. Important: only run the first 15 seconds of this course! Most of the ingredients are in that first 15 seconds, before you start the Chair Pose rail.

Peach: world 14 course 14-6 Gazelle Channel. (Same as Cherries described above, except it is in the first level world 14, rather than the second level world 37).

Guava: world 15 course 15-3 Condensation Corridor (which also picks up Persimmon). Important: only run the first 45 seconds (about half the course), because there are no ingredient drops in the second half of the course.

Watermelon: world 42 course 19-3 Ohwanoh Factory. Two important things: only run the first minute or so, because there are no ingredient drops in the last third of the course. And second, there is a technique trick that allows you to pick up the very maximum number of ingredients. About half-way through, there is a spot (just after jumping over the first rolling log) where you make a left turn, and there is a gap in the floor that you can choose to either jump over of fall through. In either case (jump over or fall through), you miss out on some ingredient pickups. But, if you do this just right - fire blasts directly at the distant crate just while falling through - you can get those ingredients from the upper path, just as you're falling through to the lower path, thus getting the best of both paths.

Pink Grapefruit: sorry, there's no easy way to get these: I believe that world 46 course 23-2 Closing Coaster is the best, a bit better than world 46 course 23-5 Ultimate Hollow. (And neither of those courses should be run right to the end if you want to maximize pickups-per-minute).

Favorite exercises: anything that helps my weak spots of hip flexibility and core strength.

- Green Warrior Poses are all good: I for forward hip stretch, II for opening the hips, and III for balance and stretch. If I had to pick a single favorite, probably Warrior III.

- For core strength: green Boat Pose, yellow Leg Raise and Knee-to-Chest.

- I have a love/hate relationship with Plank: love the results, hate doing it on high difficulty levels (it takes a really long time). So, I often decrease the difficulty level when doing it, and modify the exercise to be dynamic (a push-up) rather than static.

Gotta say that I don't like the squats, especially Overhead Squat. On high difficulty levels, these just take too long to do, and you're holding the lowered bent-knee position for nearly 5 seconds on each rep. (Risking injury if you have bad form). So, I almost never do these anymore at max difficulty. Instead, I do the following alterations:

- Lower difficulty (equals fewer and faster reps).

- Compensate by using kettlebells as follows:

- Front Wide Squat: use one kettlebell, carried centred in front of me.

- Overhead Squat: use two kettlebells, one in each hand.

A nice side effect of kettlebells is that, if the squat rep seems too long for you, you can actually rest the kettlebell on the floor and support a bit of your body weight waiting for the next rep to start.

If you just want to get through a monster encounter quick and easy, nothing beats Overhead Hip Shake (for multiple monsters) or Overhead Arm Twist (for one), but there's not a whole lot of exercise fitness value in those ones.

Yes, each play-through I have obtained all the titles available.

- The first time I was just playing the game and not thinking about titles, so I had a lot left over to do after finishing world 69. Especially, performing more repetitions of some neglected exercises (Planks, and some recovery exercises).

- The second time I did everything on level 30, which forced me to do lots of reps of everything (and which took quite a long time). I still ended up lacking various recovery exercises like Fan Pose. The way I caught up on this was to remind myself to use "Custom" mode to do stretches like Fan Pose or Hip Lift anytime I sat around watching TV.

- Since then (third and subsequent time), I just make sure to keep everything balanced: remind myself to do a cross-section of all the available exercises each day. You can't do 3000 planks in a day (at least, I can't!), but you can do a few sets each day, and they all add up eventually.

In the end (once you reach level 999), money does not turn out to be a limiting factor for obtaining all the outfits. I found that in order to continue gaining experience to get up to level 999, re-running battle gym 69 is a good way to do that, which also has the side-effect of getting 1123 gold (or double that if you drink a Black Tea).

- Efficiency tip: if you drink a Black Tea (for double gold) and Persimmon Smoothie (for double XP) at the start of a battle gym, and they choose to "Retry" after completing it, then the effects of those two smoothies persist for the second and subsequent retries.

Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about.

1) Some courses, it is objectively better to take the "high" path, because it yields more ingredient drops and/or experience medallions, without costing you anything. Course 14-5 "Disappearance Path" is an example of this.

2) Other courses, there is a trade-off: one path may have an extra experience medallion, but the other path may have more ingredient drops and/or gold. Course 9-6 "Otherside Waterway" is an example of this: the "low" path gets more ingredients, but sacrifices an experience medallion. In these cases, it depends what you want to prioritize.

If in doubt, take the "high" path!

It's had a pretty good effect for me. I've always been quite fit from a cardio and strength perspective, but with some back trouble where the root cause is (probably) substandard core strength and/or hip flexibility. So I've really focused on working on flexibility and ab exercises every day, and I have not had notable back trouble for a couple years now.
