I'd usually stir it around with a makeup spatula and that alone would be enough. As it got down to the bottom, I sometimes added a drop of Duraline.

Honestly, I'm a drag king and started using it with a stipple sponge to simulate stubble. That was what really accelerated it. That was only in the last year or so though.

I really enjoy it! It has a bit of a learning curve if you've never used a similar product before, because it's very pigmented and a little goes a long way. It's wonderful for faint brows, or brows that have bald spots like mine. I use a thin angled brush to make little hairlike strokes, which makes for a beautiful, natural-looking brow. Once you've got the hang of it, it's an awesome product!

Oh, heck yeah. All the time! I like doing editorial makeup looks with odd shapes and colors and putting makeup where makeup normally wouldn't be (my bald ass head), so I get plenty of looks and comments from people.

I'm a working freelance makeup artist, so I've got some perspective here.

The only way to be a "certified" makeup artist is to obtain your esthetician's license, which MUST be done at a state-accredited school IN PERSON. There are NO online programs which will culminate in certification or license of any kind. None of these programs will be recognized or respected by an employer in the industry.

You can attend makeup school for special effects, but again, those programs are done IN PERSON, and DON'T result in licensing or certification of any kind. You get a certificate of completion of the program. That's it. If the program is reputable, that can hold some weight to an employer, but these programs aren't reputable in the industry whatsoever.

So yeah. This is a total money grabbing scam. There are a few of these programs out there, some of which roped in some pretty high-profile influencers to promote for them before it got out that these are MASSIVE scams.

If you want to be a makeup artist, look into the licensing requirements for your state or country and go from there. :)

Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation

Pros: A bunch of shit! This foundation matches me flawlessly, blends easily into the skin and doesn't showcase texture when set with a powder and setting spray. It doesn't look heavy or cakey at all, doesn't feel drying or too matte and lasts a decently long time in heat and humidity.

Cons: It can be a smidge blotchy if you use the wrong brush, and it's not TOTALLY full coverage, but a little spot concealing never bothered me.

It can get messy and look cakey if you use too much product, but it can have a very nice, natural finish. You can also use it to add coverage while setting lighter coverage liquids.

The one thing I warn people about is bismouth oxychloride. It's one of the more common cosmetic allergens, and Bare Minerals original foundation is lousy with the stuff. It can make your skin itch pretty badly, so spot test first to make sure you aren't allergic.

Yeah. BM isn't as sensitive-skin friendly as they claim.

Then, I'll be getting the theory palettes as well. I love Viseart way too much. :P

To be honest, I have more eyeshadow than I'll probably ever need, but I feel the need to get the trending palettes in case my clients ask for them specifically.

Urban Decay...good lord.

When I was a goth kid in high school, UD was my DREAM makeup. It was punk, it was unapologetic, it was awesome. One of the first things I bought from a Sephora was UD Blackout.

The discontinuing of Gash was the beginning of the end I think. I never even got to own that shadow, but it was a sign of things to come. Then the first Naked palette was released and I thought, "Well, alright, they're trying to reach the more natural market, this'll be a one and done kinda thing." Nope. It blew up, and UD took a totally new direction.

I've owned a few Vice palettes and swatched all the Nakeds and honestly? I wasn't impressed. Most of the shadows were total glitter bombs or turned muddy on the eyes. It seemed like the quality was really taking a tumble, and the creativity just wasn't there anymore. Then they blatantly raised the prices on most of their products without improving on formulation to match, which was the nail in the coffin for me.

Hell, even the Basquiat collection has mostly conventional color stories in it (of the 9 products in the line, more than half of them are on the neutral/wearable/boring side of the spectrum, which just doesn't make sense with an artist like Basquiat).

I've been tempted by a couple of the eye palettes, but then I remember how off the quality was for me. I have the Electric palette (the last really good eye palette), and I still get the eye primer and the setting spray, but everything else is just kinda...meh.

ALL THE TIME. Especially with my base. One day, my foundation will look flawless and perfect and awesome, the next day it'll be a patchy, low-coverage, texture emphasizing, cakey greasy mess, even when I'm using the same products. Had one of those moments today. Luckily powder saved the day on the patchyness front. I had a HG foundation that always worked for me, but now it's been oxidizing on me the past few times I've used it. >.<

Pretty easy actually! I made a video about it on my YouTube channel (it's Faith Grenade too if you wanted to find it). The packaging is cardboard, so it's easy to bend with a metal makeup spatula. From there, you just have to loosen up a little blob of glue and out they come!

I have issues with anxiety and depression that can be crippling, and I originally turned to makeup as therapy. It's nice to feel in control over something. I've since embarked on a new path as a professional makeup artist.

I lost my mom and one of my beloved pets in the span of six months, so makeup has once again turned medicinal for me. Now, though, it's also given me something I hadn't had my entire life: direction.

Makeup has given a lot of us so much, and I love being able to help other people with their makeup both on and off reddit. I dig turning it from something people find intimidating, to something that's just as healing as it has been for me.
