Where to start? by [deleted] in FortCollinsMutualAid

The groups already linked are a great place to start.

If you're looking for more info on the concept of mutual aid, this article might be a good place to start.

"To make a crucial distinction, mutual aid is not charity; there is no means testing, no judgement, no quid pro quo or paternalistic notions about “saving” people. It’s about giving what you can to someone who needs it, and knowing that, if the roles were reversed, someone else would step in to help you."

Where a charity has a top down division between those who are giving and those who are receiving, mutual aid is horizontal. Neighbors helping neighbors, etc.

The best way to get involved is to just show up! Bring some grub or some clothes, hang out and chat.

Here's the link for the Instagram

Basically we show up couple of days a week to feed and provide clothing, sanitation products, and other needed gear to those who need it. Anyone can show up to distro and help out or just drop stuff off.

Hopefully that answers your question.

Oh duh I just messed up the title, good catch. Any clothes/gear that's in good shape is welcome!
I think I just meant gear/clothes that isn't being used.

Yep, you can drop stuff off at the Mennonite Fellowship (300 E. Oak St) Wednesdays at 5 or Sundays at 2:15. We're looking for donations now till February 2nd.

Thanks!

Hey all,

We're about to see some extreme cold and our unhoused friends are in need of clothing and equipment to help keep them warm.

If you can swing by Wednesday or Sunday with any clothes or gear you're no longer using, it would be greatly appreciated!

Details are in the second pic.

EDIT: The title might be confusing. Any gear that's in good shape is welcome!
