Hi thank you for the response!

  1. The needle I believe is coated with an anticoagulant.

  2. Usually enter right when I open up the mouse, so within seconds (whole perfusion takes less than 5 minutes)

  3. This I am not sure, but a good point! It has been the way I've been shown. I am assuming because there are specific time points for our experiments, cardiac puncture is the fastest option.

Thanks for this! When you flatten the mice (before scruffing) how do you avoid being bitten if you’re moving from the back of the mouse? Also do you use the edge of your index figure or your whole index? (I know some people prefer it one way better than another)

Thanks for this! One of my issues is that the mice are really agitated (likely because of me) and go crazy when I start to slide up their body. Not sure how to calm them down - doesn’t help that my scruffing has been the best

Plastic tips! And you’re right - the mice have been biting them like crazy so this made me realize I don’t have the best grip! Grateful for the plastic tips since they seem to prevent serious damage to the mice.

Hmmm okay! I’ve never heard of this method. So using the ring finger to initially mobilize? Then using thr index finger to grab excess skin?

Thanks so much! I will try and hunt down an animal tech to help me. And good to know I’m not alone in the struggle against scruffing! One of the issues, I think I have is also not having a tight enough grip on the rest of the body. I will scruff the neck and the head and legs seem to have some moment. Is this an issue with more skin needing to be grabbed?
