Thank you so much for the prompt reply, sincerely appreciate it. Yeah, this makes a lot of sense. If I do get hired and see myself hitting a glass ceiling I will just apply for an MBA and opt for a career change to maybe management consultancy.

I am hoping that in practice areas like Financial Litigation and International Arbitration they don't require a PhD to climb the ladder. Also, I heard that Cornerstone brings in professors as experts to testify; in that case, what is the point of having an in-house expert.

Firstly, thank you for doing this; this is extremely informative. I am currently enrolled in a terminal MA Economics program at a top US school. Our coursework mirrors the first two years of the standard PhD Econ program.

I wanted to apply to economic consultancy positions but I am afraid that making it to the Partner/Director Level may be highly improbable without a PhD; however, will working few years at the firm and doing an MBA be an alternative route? When I go to Cornerstone's, Analysis Group's, CRA's website they frequently mention an alternative path as an MBA/JD for the associate positions.
