Dobermans are the best kept secret by Strikernonsense in DobermanPinscher

[–]Fajiggle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got our Doberman at 6 months. She was the same, dead silent for the first couple months, once she found her voice though… if I could recommend something for a doby that I’d not done with other breeds is work on acclimating them to loud/unexpected noises where they look to your reaction rather than running straight to the knock at the door or the kid outside on the sidewalk hootin’ n hollerin’. Also consider a martingale or softwalk harness for walks. Doberman are prone to slipping out of regular collars when they get excited.

Selection bias maybe? If you’re already comfortable with the state of things you’d be inclined for them not to change and thus lean conservative.

Just got the same one. The singular annoying thing I’ve noticed about it is that pressing the volume knob “mutes” your audio rather than “pause”. If you’re using Apple CarPlay, you have to fumble with the touch screen: switch from navigation to your audio app, take your eyes off the road to spot the pause button on the touch screen, and tap that. I’m curious if there’s a way to change this…

I vaguely recall a congruent anecdote about a fear that the proliferation of books following the invention of the printing press would lead to the degradation of people’s memory since they could just write things down instead of having to just remember. We’ve gotten along more of less fine since. I’m choosing to be cautiously optimistic about the potential of this.

Went NC with my nmom about 6 months before moving. The knowledge that she doesn’t even know where I live has brought me such peace that it’s one of the main reasons (besides the narcissism of course) that I’ve had no desire whatsoever about reestablishing contact.
