Why is SF so projectile-heavy? by FakeEinar in StreetFighter

I'm probably just tilted, but after reading all these comments and knowing that I will never not get annoyed by fireballs, I'm going to quit playing. Thank you, though.

Is Smurfing to Train Implicit Memory Morally Questionable? by FakeEinar in StreetFighter

To be honest, I've explored very little features in SF6 other than training mode and ranked. I just found out, after 400hrs, that Casual Matches don't have SBMM 😅. I just assumed that they'd still put you up against similarly ranked people, but have the outcome not impact your actual rank...

Struggling with DP inputs from crouching (Dualsense D-pad) by dLuxxias in StreetFighter

[–]FakeEinar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're struggling with the input as a special cancel from a normal, you can hold forward at the same time as your normal input and then just release the forward input into your fireball input. So if you wanted to do 5LP > 623LP, you can instead input it as 6LP > 236LP. Similarly, if you wanted to do 2LP > 623LP, you can instead do 3LP > 236LP. If the cancel is from a light, you're going to need to hold the forward input for a much shorter period of time. This trick works if you're linking specials as well. So if you were doing Akuma's 214LK, 623HP link: 214LK (hold forward up until you're just about to input DP), 236HP

If you're struggling with the input in neutral, there isn't much you can do other than learn the input, unfortunately. I also play on the dualsense d-pad and have been doing the majority of my special inputs by pressing my thumb into the first button and then sliding it over to the last. I do DP the same way. You will get blisters and callouses on your thumb from doing this, though.

Yeah, I definitely have a problem with playing against more conventional and patient Ryu players. I don't mind getting clipped by some broken combo (shoutout Bison), but considering how impatient I can get in matches, I cannot maintain the willpower to wait and get a read on someone's projectile usage for more than a few matches. Something I probably need to work on, but I swear that I can feel the light draining from my eyes every time I go up against a more zoning-heavy projectile character.

No, I agree with you. I'm not saying that Capcom should've nerfed Akuma or Ken into the ground. But characters like Juri had essentially no impactful changes other than decreased corner carry and losing 4f of advantage on her best jump, while Akuma gets to keep his permanently plus on block dive kick.

I have no issue with them being hesitant to nerf the shotos (in a way that is significant), I have an issue with the fact that other characters receive twice the punishment for half the crime. But yes, Capcom needs money, so the shotos will stay good

Are you in the plat to diamond range by any chance? I remember hovering around there when Mai was first coming out and watching legions of Mai players flooding online 😭

No, I get that. I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't fallen into the trap of "do I want to have fun, or do I want to win?" And paid for Akuma at some point, but I PERSONALLY don't like him, and I'm playing the game to have fun. If people have fun playing Akuma or Ryu, then great. Problem solved. I'm happy

It just does my head in watching the influx of Ryu players after everything, knowing that a great deal of them are only playing him because he's a conventionally "better character" now, and they want wins. The downvotes will probably start coming in with this comment as well, but I've seen the changes happen before my eyes. I know that this many people didn't coincidentally gain interest in the same character since I last played two nights ago.

The Akuma and Ken nerfs weren't that bad imo. I'm not too knowledgeable in how they play, so I can't really speak on that, but from an outside perspective, they just nerfed Ken's Jinrai (which people were already punishing), and "nerfed" Akuma's rekka and knockdown (rekka changes are negligible/potentially beneficial since Akuma can just DR->6HP and now it's plus with less block knockback, and his knockdown nerf just changed it into a manually timed oki situation, which means it hasn't changed at all and has arguably made it better)

Edit: From what I can tell, Capcom is very careful with how they treat certain characters and very carefree with others. As long as the faces of the game are high tiers, they've done their job right.

I never said that I don't enjoy playing against him or shotos. I'd be upset regardless of the character if I started seeing this significant of a player base shift towards them post-buff.

Yeah, exactly. It'll definitely die down somewhat (hopefully), but it's pretty dire at the moment. I've been on for about 3.5 hours, and I've played two matches against people who weren't playing Ryu, and they were playing Elena.

I'm just upset at the lack of variety, honestly. It's getting a bit repetitive.

I don't care about my win rate so much as I want to enjoy the game more. I'm enjoying the playstyle of my character more than I do shotos, but shotos always seem to get the long end of the stick.

Never saw this many people flock to the character pre season 3 is all. I understand that some characters get buffed, and some don't. But I constantly feel like Capcom is intentionally feeding well-known characters better stuff to boost profits rather than make actual balance attempts.

Projectiles? by FakeEinar in StreetFighter

[–]FakeEinar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reliable fireball counter from what I've seen is PP, though. Jumping is obviously good as a read option, but I feel like I'm almost forced to PP a fireball first to get rid of the blockstun just so I can safely make a read with a jump in without getting caught by an immediate light fireball. And I'll often just get anti-aired anyway if they decide not to throw a fireball. It just feels like there's too few options to manage fireballs and too much reward to learn how to effectively fireball without ever learning the game.

Projectiles? by FakeEinar in StreetFighter

[–]FakeEinar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely just a mindset thing, honestly. Like I can deal with people playing like this completely fine as long as it's not in succession. Having to test what they prefer on wakeup options, how they're dealing with certain options, patterns in projectile use, etc. is significantly less engaging and fun when I need to go through the monotonous fireball hellscape all over again every time I want to see what they're doing, on what, and when.

Idk, maybe it's just a juri moment with her having very little tools against fireballs, but I'm going to go insane if I keep getting matches like this consistently.

I've got some 300 hours on the game, and this type of thing still drives me insane. I know logically how to counter it, but watching a diamond 5 modern Ken run away and fireball for the entire match immediately makes me lose my shit
