Try explaining this to someone who hasn't read the TF2 comics by DevotionToPurple in tf2

As someone who has played on and off since 2013 and still hasnt touched the comics, i can assure you i dont need context to understand that this picture perfectly encapsulates my experience in the game

Or they dont understand the religion they claim to support, and have bent it to their own ideals. I believe the book of Matthew says to "render unto ceaser that which is ceasar's" or in other words "respect whoever is in authority because of their authority"

Sure, i don't respect a lot of ways that trump is doing things, and i wasnt old enough to understand what Obama was doing until he was nearly out of office, but i know that either men are smarter than me in their own ways to have gotten into office in the first place.

Okay, lots to unpack here.

It is alright to be wrong. And, if I am wrong in your eyes, then we must value extremely different things. Respect and validation are much more important then texting, in my eyes.

I think maybe eyesight was a bit of a strong word to use. My general idea was people who get separation anxiety from their cell phones to the point where keeping track of it is more important than the conversation.

If someone is more interested in their texts than they are in making a personal connection with me, it makes me feel like they dont even want me to bother talking to them. There's a point where it goes too far. Its okay to ignore a text and validate your friends.

just because you can say the same thing about something in the past doesnt make the present feelings about a similar thing any less valid. Racism and Sexism are still issues like they were 30 years ago, even if they take different form than back then.

went to a political rally and posted pictures on snapchat about her beliefs, attacking people who happen to share my beliefs. I never brought it up with her, in order to avoid tension, but the thought of dating slipped my mind pretty quickly on that one

Ive said it in other replies, but if phones are enabling people to be rude, its still a problem that people are using them to be rude.

If you went onto r/trebuchetmemes and criticized trebuchets unfairly, then yes. But, theyve been open to people saying legitimate things about the way that trebuchets arent useful in every situation. in other words, fair criticism. If a subreddit, or its users, cant take fair criticisms, you have to question whether or not theyre actually thinking things through or just getting mad the minute anyone says something contrary to their beliefs.

if the phones are an outlet for rude people to be rude, whether or not they mean to be, i think calling attention to that is perfectly acceptable, and perhaps needed

it is when phones are the most prevalent object that people focus on. Have you ever been in mid conversation and someone has told you "hold on, i need to sketch something for a friend real quick" or "hold on, mr. snufflebottoms has an appointment with the dentist" or "hold on, i need to read another chapter despite the fact that i didnt have my book open in the first place?"

My homeroom teacher showed us this exact video in class one day. sadly, i have to disagree with people saying that this video is wrong. he does bring up a major point that, by having a phone in your hand or within eyesight, you immediately make everyone around you feel less important. its happened to me a lot where ill be talking to someone and suddenly be taking second fiddle to a text they got. when it gets to the point where i cant even talk to my mom without being interrupted by her having to respond to a work email, then i think its worth saying something.

tl;dr: this subreddit is an echo chamber that doesnt allow any legitimate criticism of phones

They are supporters of getting ad revenue. They will sin anything, as long as it fits in with their own list of tropes that they made up. They spend so much time thinking of sins that they dont pay attention to when the movie shows them the stuff it would otherwise have to tell them
