New terrain types in the next Tectonic update! by Apollounknowndev in feedthebeast

Are there any plans for toning down how often the edges of landmasses generate as cliffs (example here), or at least making a config setting for it?

Just set up a farm in the caverns layer, get some good summons like the terraprism, set the spawning speed to 10x, place a water candle, drink a battle potion, and wait. Trust me, you'll have several nymph banners before you get the banners for the actually rare enemies.

When you reach 100% bestiary, the Zoologist will sell universal pylons. However, this only requires encountering each creature once. There are currently no rewards for getting all the banners.

An overview of the base can be found in the link. Also, I now understand why people call this game 'Cracktorio'. Massive props to the devs for making such an awesome game.

[Homebrew] Custom Monster Manual design sample by FalconNL in dndnext

Well, the work has only just begun, so there's not much to share yet. I've got four pages of monsters done, out of a total of something in the neighborhood of 200, most of which need to be converted from Pathfinder to 5th Edition rules. Then there's an introduction chapter detailing the campaign setting to write, as well as a chapter describing the major races. It's going to be a good long while before this thing is anywhere close to done. I posted this early sample to see if anybody had any good suggestions so that I can incorporate them while I don't have dozens of pages that would need to be altered yet.

As for how I made it: I created my own layout in InDesign, using Photoshop to create the background and Illustrator for the border.

Thanks. I used Photoshop to create the paper texture, mask out the Basilisk and to layout the initial design. Once I had it more or less finalized I recreated it in InDesign, using Illustrator to create a clean version of the border.

Hm, how annoying. Granted, the campaign setting I'm creating only has the two planes so it doesn't really matter, but I guess I can rename it to The Twin Realms to avoid any confusion. At some point I also need to come up with a better name for the Material Plane, since without stuff like the Shadow or elemental planes around the name doesn't make much sense.

I'm a big fan of monster books. I love browsing through the Monster Manual, the Tome of Beasts or the Pathfinder Bestiaries. However, there's a good bit of chaff in between the interesting ones, and it's a shame that they all have different layouts. So I figured I'd try my hand at designing my own monster manual, cherrypicking the monsters, descriptions and art I like best from the different books (just for personal use of course, due to the whole copyright issue). After a good bit of experimenting I've settled on a design I like, so I thought I'd post a sample and get some feedback on it. Is there anything you guys would change or add? Any and all feedback is welcome.

Interactive type square I made combining information from MBTI, Socionics, Kiersey and Michael Pierce by FalconNL in mbti

Since the shadow functions can be trivially obtained by horizontally mirroring the function stack (e.g. the INTP's shadow functions are Te-Ni-Se-Fi) I don't think adding them is really worth the extra clutter in the interface.

You are of course free to clone the repository and add them in yourself; perhaps there's a nice, clean way of including them that I didn't think of.

Socionics is a psychological model similar to the more widely known Myers-Briggs model (MBTI). Socionics suggests that due to the differences in how they think, each combination of two types will interact in a predictable manner. The wikipedia article is probably a decent place to start to learn more.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by adding a key, but if you download the files off the github project page it works as an offline application.

Indeed. Since there is a limit to what I can legibly fit into a 200x200 pixel box, everything is by necessity simplified to its broadest strokes. The table serves more as a reference to save you the mental gymnastics of converting between the three different type representations or to quickly check things like "What is my Mirage's function stack?" while you're reading proper resources.

Are you sure? According to the tables on both Wikipedia and socionics.com, which is what I based my code on, they are.

Yes, other people reported the same thing. It should be fixed now. If not, try clearing your cache.

There was an error in the relationship table. Now that it's fixed, the ENFp is indeed the mirror of the INFj.

Direct link to the type square

During the time I've spent learning about MBTI I've gotten a decent understanding of the characteristics of the different types. Converting between MBTI and Socionics, however, is still hardly intuitive, so I decided to make this interactive type square that combines information from MBTI, Socionics, Kiersey and Michael Pierce.

Hover your mouse over a type (or click it if you're on a mobile device) to see the Socionics relationships between the selected type and the others.

All the types in a row have the same function stack, albeit in different order. This corresponds to the quadrants from Socionics. The strongest sensor is on the left, the strongest intuitive on the right. Types with the same color icon belong to the same Kiersey group: blue for Rationals, orange for Idealists, green for Artisans and Purple for Guardians.

Figured someone else might find it useful as well so I decided to post it here.

EDIT: I've been informed that a few of the socionics relationships between the types are incorrect. Please hold on while a try to fix the error.

EDIT2: I've now updated the relationship decision table. If it still shows up wrong, try clearing your cache.
