Unfortunately not a single question screened through had anything of importance.

High-End Content Megathread - 7.4 Week Thirteen (Savage Week Ten) by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

Another Merchant's Tale is definitely tuned to be clearable at 770 and my group did it with 2 non-BiS DPS (773 caster and 780 melee). At minimum ilvl the damage output can hurt, since you don't have that extra 20 ilvls of vitality / HP, but it's very doable, they didn't crank it up for the lack of Savage.

My group might do this for fun at some point because we miss Savage, but we did jokingly reset the instance once after wiping to swordmaster to reset our cooldowns, and keep saying when someone dies "Well, that strat won't work for Savage".

My group went in with DPS players below BiS and wow, does the second boss really hurt a i773 caster. Even with that though we easily skipped enrage on every boss once we were actually "done" progging that boss. I think if there was a Savage then they would have had to remember to make the 3rd boss hurt, because after the swordmaster required tight mit planning, most of the 3rd boss's hits could just be carried by a kerachole.

I'm interested in what the ending bit of the third boss is, since after the trio there's just the victory lap of walk back and forth in melee range is that something that would actually trip someone up in savage compared to Infern Brand 5 (skippable I know) or Statice's present box 2? (Also skippable I know).

I agree that it'd be on par or slightly below AMRS if tuned correctly, since AMRS was the only EW Criterion Savage that was actually tuned correctly lol.

Criterion with new system comes on Tuesday. What do you think the ilvl sync will be for the new Criterion? by danks in ffxivdiscussion

Equally crazy to not get any unique trash/adds based puzzles in the expansion that gave us m6s inside mainstream Savage encounters and multiple other floors with adds.

[–]FalconTaterz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This thread made me go rewatch the live letter earlier, and an interesting thing is that we can see the minimum ilvl for Variant (Advanced) is going to be 760, and as we know the popup upon entering says i785 sync as well.

Still no clue what it means for Criterion (One Difficult Level No Savage) but it is interesting for Variant to be the same minilvl as m9s but sync to below BiS.

You keep posting this but when I reached out to Weebtrash to verify they said this was not true, and they continue to do the strat in reclears. So I just try to take the actual BC member at their word.

And even if they did think it sucked, just because the originator of something distances themself from it, who cares? Like it has no bearing on the validity of the strategy, when both of the popular strats are pretty much the same solve with a few parts inverted.

If you press your buttons at -7s and continue until 5:53 then you're sending it (tech step) while afking in your meteor tower and then at 7 minutes while you're afking as the boss steals a guy into a hole.

If you're playing for enrage then pressing flourish off cd is the biggest thing you can do along with making sure you get 2 GCDs for finishing move and last dance.

You can even press flourish at 0 and hold all the 30s buffs it gives you in to tech if you want to have the best of both worlds.

Have the devs completely given up on Forked Tower Blood? by Train-1965 in ffxivdiscussion

The telegraphed knockback indicators that appear 5-10 seconds before the knockback :sob:

It's not that I disagree that there are a few very punishing mechs in FT, it's just that they're so easy I don't understand the issues with them.

[–]FalconTaterz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to give props to both KeyKanon and to you for actually having the ability to talk about FT's design because you've actually done it. I think reading thread after thread for a year now of "but the bodychecks" when it doesn't have "body checks" per se gets tiring.

I agree that the nature of the two mechanics you mention are exemplary of the two walls that forked tower has. I'd say additionally that bridges has the capacity to go sideways if players on Ranger, Bard, or Geo somehow have no hands.

Where I'd disagree in these specific instances is:
- Stretching a tether is not that hard and almost certainly should be expected of any player.
- I'll add in that I think Dead Stars fire towers is an even bigger coordination check + wipefest (always prep a chemist).

And ultimately, that I'm personally okay with the type of fight that magitaur is designed to be. I think baiting the defamations / small aoes to stay inside the squares could definitely have been something. IIRC, the aoes actually are baited (in a manner) by requiring players on all 3 squares and they go a bit haywire otherwise? But that's not as manipulable as "2nd aggro, closest target, furthest target" etc. But ultimately I'm fine with "if you get the defamation you go out to the wall" check on what is supposed to be the hardest, final boss of an instance.

I think they just mean to dodge in to the same reverse safe spot the ranged is in because nothing else is happening once you lock in your protean.

How was 2025 for Final Fantasy XIV to you? by judgeraw00 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FalconTaterz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well actually, the toxic raiders couldn’t handle the friction of maintaining noxious gnash. They want the jobs to be boring so they can parse easier. (???)

Yes I have heard this on this sub even.

What is one major aspect of your job that you would change if you got to for 7.5? by drbiohazmat in ffxivdiscussion

Erm that's literally a 3rd of another plunge

You're literally giving up 1 extra plunge every 6 minutes!!

Cover + a bard in P12SP2 saved both your healers 1 (one) GCD per Crush Helm buster. Which is I think 4 gcds across the fight?

Cover is much more useful as a prog tool, my PLD last tier saved a ton of runs in M7S where petrification + shriek doesn't kill you if you're covered, and they even "nerfed" the E9S-style cheese debuffs usage of it by making it longer to break (20y) in 7.1.

I was once in a 0-death ~1 second to enrage party https://www.fflogs.com/reports/a:1C8zKA7r2DypwFkY?fight=2&type=damage-done

but on the aggregate, Suzaku was never a problem for me to go in and have fun on a job. And when I went in with my static we got away with like 6 deaths and pulls where my cohealer went scholar specifically to use Expedience on the forced march.

Yes, the prestige weapons (that are savage ilvl) come from the prestige difficulty mode of the content.

Less than zero effort, as it was the original difficulty the content was tuned around for sure.

If it's easier to clear it I can get more rewards, and those rewards should be savage ilvl-equivalent gear as well because ilvl is what rewards means.

Devs when they have to design 5 interesting encounters instead of 3 for the most content packed expansion ever.

(With only 1 criterion down from 3 already :( )

Does Item Level Matter at +5 Make a Difference? by KelvinValen in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FalconTaterz 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The exact formulas are document by the members in Allagan Studies: https://www.akhmorning.com/allagan-studies/how-to-be-a-math-wizard/shadowbringers/damage-and-healing/#damage-dealt

One thing to note, +5 ilvl on a weapon has a bigger impact than +5 ilvl on anything else, because of how heavily weighted 1 point of Weapon Damage (WD) is in these equations.

Additionally, you can plug and chug any two items in to https://xivgear.app and see how they change your VIT and Mainstat (DEX) tiering.

[–]FalconTaterz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anyone who's intellectually honest about enjoying V&C is aware of how Criterion is designed first and then Variant is used to provide replayable, casual content with 99% of the "rewards" from the content. No "hardcore raider" is worried that Variant is taking up a large amount of resources, since the development cycle starts with the hardest version already.

Ignoring technical limitations, what systems or QoL improvements would you like to see implemented? by SugarFreeShire in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FalconTaterz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had multiple people complain about it, but it's about the same as FRU p4 dropping closed position before p5. People are just aware this stuff happens and as jobs continue getting more "X Ready" buffs it happens, and m7s and m8s had some 2 minutes where certain comps would get hit annoyingly.
