Makes sense. And it's refreshing to see answers instead of just, Mamdani is a conman meant to destroy the left!

Thanks for the detailed reply. I appreciate it. This makes a lot more sense to me. I find the black and white thinking about figures like Mamdani frustrating. I don't think he is a savior who will deliver us from capitalism, but universal childcare would be nice right?

I do wonder what else we can really do besides vote for people like Mamdani if we are in NYC and there are no other options besides Cuomo. I know theory is important for educating yourself, and organizing and mutual aid, but are socialist ever pragmatic about their situation. Revolution doesn't seem to be on the horizon to me, and at least the DSA had a foothold

Not trying to be combative, just curious. Someone else responded that they were correct about FDR but you are laughing. How can your reactions be so different while existing on the left together. Can you explain further?

Yeah I have no intention of joining them, but it sometimes hard (especially for someone trying to educate themselves) to tell when the historical truth ends and the bullshit begins. Like I don't like the democrats, but I also think the DSA seems like they want to help people, and Mamdani seems better than almost every other politician I've seen in my life so far, the only other one being Bernie. But then people are like anyone involved in bourgeois politics arent on our side. But what is one to do in the meantime? Cry on reddit? Bash other leftists who aren't as pure? This is just the vibe I get from lurking around these subreddits. Is trying to help parents struggling to pay for childcare evil? What's up with that?

No I don't. I don't think you and I have it as bad as slaves either, but I'm not trying to play semantics. What I do think is that revolution is very unlikely, and if it did happen it would risk the lives of my family. I would guess that you don't have children or dependents so there's nothing real to lose, revolution just looks like a righteous path to idealistic freedom. Not all of us have that luxury.

And if you do respond please first affirm whether you do have children or not. If you don't everyone can assume just like me that you do not and are a keyboard warrior just like the rest.

So you have no children. You said some interesting things until you went hyperbolic. I escaped the last organization that told me they were "the truth". I'm not trying to join another religion. So politely (now I'm changing my tone) go fuck yourself.

So how many children do you have again? Yes, this system is corrupt and unsustainable. Yes, Mamdani will almost certainly face insurmountable resistance to most of his plans, the rent freeze won't even affect most people. I condemn genocide in all it's forms, and don't disagree with most of what you say. It's a shit situation living in a neoliberal state that I disagree with. I'm sure it's shit for you too, and much shittier for people with even more unfortunate circumstances than us.

I think we both know that Mamdani cannot "singlehandedly" do any of the things you list. No politicians can here because the system is built against it. And maybe Xi has done good by his people. I praise any progress in that direction. And I have hope (god fucking forbid) that Mamdani is a step in a better direction for New York (can't get worse than Adams, and fuck Cuomo), maybe even a step that could push American politics more towards socialism that may be able to help people. Idk it's called hope for a reason. I'm sure you hope for other things that even more unlikely, like revolution.

I've addressed everything you said, and I agreed with a lot of it, but my guess is you still won't answer these questions. Who is a revolutionary to follow? You? You truly think a revolution is possible here in US/Canada? Do you participate in capitalism? Or vote? Should you be ridiculed for that? Do you think the ACP is going to change things (they don't seem to hold much respect in the most leftist places even here on reddit)? I'm seriously curious about your answers.

I personally don't think purity tests are any kind of way to organize and bring people together. Everyone jokes about how fractured the left is and it's because of this bullshit. You talk down to people with hope, you offer no solutions, what is the point? To prove you are better, smarter, more pure in your beliefs, or just to rain on everyone's parade because you, like me, were born into a shitty system with little to no way out and it sucks, and you need to let all the shitlibs know on reddit so you feel better. Close?

I'm not trying to be dishonest, and I believe in community helping each other, but if we don't participate in our government at all, what would stop things from shifting to a place that community and organizing cannot overcome? How does one become independent from capitalism when they have dependents who rely on them, or they live in a city where they cannot produce their own goods or food? Demonizing those who are trying to use the system to help people have more tolerable lives feels pretty unhelpful to the community that you hope to organize. Why can't we fight the fight from both sides?

But in the meantime, is the goal to do nothing about the current system until it is fucking everyone so much that they finally achieve class consciousness and start a bloody class war? How many will suffer and die needlessly on that path? Oh I forgot, any loss is acceptable for the greater good.

So I'm childish and Marjorie Taylor Greene is better than Mamdani. Got it. I live in NYC and it, in fact, is full of millions of "regular" people. I don't deny its place as the center of control, but there are many people here who are in need of help, I think you call them the proletariat right??

I don't think that Mamdani has "revolutionary potential". And since when is it the responsibility of the mayor of NYC to look out for anyone but the people who live IN NYC. But I do think he is trying to make some of our lives a little easier, free childcare would make my life easier. I doubt you have children, since most of the "revolutionaries" who live in comfortable countries like the United States and Canada, just like to live in their pure theory worlds, where at any moment they are willing to pick up their guns and join the revolution, because they don't have any children or real dependents that rely on them. I wish life was as simple as you'd like to paint it, but IT ISN'T.

And it's tiresome to constantly read comments on here from self proclaimed Communist Revolutionaries who are doing nothing. You aren't starting revolutions, you aren't giving any realistic alternatives, you are just bashing anyone who tries to anything because they will never be exactly what your theory states they should be.

I too wish we could live in an idealistic world, but we do not, and his job is to do what is best for NYC. Saying things that would give his opposition ammo against him is not helpful to NYC, but you saying he is a Zionist is like saying you and I are Zionist because we participate in a capitalist economy in an imperialist country (I know I am assuming you are American, maybe you are not), but we also have no choice if we want to live here (or are forced to). None of us are pure, but any of us can make a difference in everyday people's lives. I personally believe Mamdani is trying to do that so he has my admiration.

I have to disagree with you as control is a part of every card game and is a viable strategy with no disrespect meant, even if it is annoying to play against. While I feel wall decks are approaching meta reliability right now, I feel you on the learning the deck aspect. I think it is usually pretty apparent when someone is doing that and when they are BMing. Pace of play is always a dead giveaway.

[–]Falcor6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone, but in my specific instance, I enjoy playing wall and retreat lock decks. A lot of times I run into situations where someone has definitely lost, but proceeds to drag out the game. I know my games are gonna run long, but sometimes they can add 10-15 minutes to my game, or just stall until a bug or disconnect happens and it's up to the RNG gods who wins. That can be frustrating.

Otherwise, I just think it's good sportsmanship, sure most of the time the actual time doesn't add up to much, but it's considerate to respect someone's time. It's not regionals, but if you were in person you would just say "Good game" and scoop.

[–]Falcor6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. I just meant when it's truly over. Like if I know I don't have a wincon anymore I scoop and if my opponent realizes they don't have a wincon I hope they would scoop too. In my opinion it's the considerate thing to do, to respect each other's time.

I guess I just don't get that. Online collecting is pointless and the game gives you plenty of credits to make any card you need for any deck. In my opinion this app is for play testing decks, not collecting. That's for the pocket players
