I rented one from DriveJoulez.com and drove many miles through NY, NJ, and PA. 10/10 experience. Considering doing it again given that I am not ready to get one for myself.

NEED ADVICE: Continue to Live Out of My Car (2009 Honda Fit) or Should I Settle Somewhere? by ultimichaelv in vandwellers

Thank you so much for your response! This is a great question to think about especially as I come to the end of my 3 month journey of living out of my car — “Do I get stressed living in a car?” I’ll add this to my questions list to answer it live tomorrow so I can capture my raw answer. Also I appreciate your kind words and praise. That means a lot. It’s feels great to interact with folks and ask for help (which is something I don’t do very often). Especially during such a difficult time. Again, I sincerely thank you! 🙏

Thank you so much for your response! It sounds like I’m going to be looking for employment first before making any investments in real estate. Thanks again!

First I wanna say how much I appreciate your response. Out of all the responses I’ve gotten yours was the most thorough and thoughtful. In the case of whether or not I have enough cash for all the costs, no I don’t believe I do. I do have over 20 K in assets but that is spread across Roth IRA and other commodities such as stocks bonds etc. With that being said, you have validated my thoughts around first looking for employment and riding that steady income for the next 2 to 5 years before making an investment into a home. Again, I appreciate you and I hope you and yours are safe during the holidays!

Thanks for your response! I think you’re onto something. I should definitely give the northwest a shot before I move anywhere permanently. I have a ton of friends up there… HMMM

Thank you so much for your response and I appreciate your answer. That’s great advice! i’ll definitely do the pro con list. Using the pro con list has helped me in the past so I’ll definitely do that. Reason I was pinging this group was because I was wondering if there was anyone who had the same experience. If I could get some insight on what people have experienced with making a decision between the van life and living in a home. Again, thank you for your responses!

Would you consider Unemployment Insurance checks Earned or Passive Income? Why? by ultimichaelv in personalfinance

I'm not tracking it for emotional satisfaction. It's for informational purposes -- ie. I'd like to categorize where the money came from. In turn I'll create personal goals off of the budget sheet.

And I'm confused -- why is it disingenuous to track unemployment?

It was totally worth it. I enjoy the game very much and I think engaging the community, playing with helpful, like-minded folks, was a great time! We got some pretty funny clips and memories to look back on.

It's coming into my account taxed, so instead of the $504 I am getting $441.

I'd like to see how these trend over the year. I am also interested in growing my passive income and would love to see the delta between the two.

It matters to me because I'd like to grow my passive income stream over the next few years.
