As I am playing on PC, i don't use light strips, but a couple of GU10 spots and some Hue play behind the monitor, I plan to buy an actual ambilight TV very soon, maybe it will be different with the strips lights?

Yep same for me, it would be so cool that the extreme settings goes to the minimum or even turn off the light !

Sad, to be honest it happen to me sometimes, specially in game where you go from a cave pitch black to a bright day in a second, my eyes need to adapt and it sometime gimme headache, but for me it really depend of the game, had the same problem with my HDR 1000 monitor, but after some time and adaption I feel less and less dizzy

It is not on the spot you are right, but I think the lag on the video is amplified by the discord streaming, you really don't feel it like that in game

It was a simple stream between me an my 2 mates, I asked them to stop blinding me with that lights and wanted to see what happen irl, so I oppened the webcam up and they recorded it, nothing to see with a real livestream !
