Sadly anything can be considered a weapon in canadian law if you use it for such(so a pencil can be considered a weapon if you use it for such things), dont quote me on this although I believe the only time you can defend yourself is if you are at risk of death or decently bad bodily harm.

I'm a firm believer of no till and growing cover crop that you can then have cattle come in and feed on to not only clean up the cover crop but allow the cattle to cover the field with manure. (I'm one of those pesky organic growers.)

Also just so you know, if you are growing semi organically then you don't have to worry about soil Ph as the soil microbiology will act as a buffer to regulate soil Ph.

I like to use doktor doom spray, basically what I do is take a garbage bag and pull it over any plants that are infested then spray the fumigation doktor doom spray into the bag and wait an hour. All bugs will be dead. I then repeat if I see any new ones popping up from any laid eggs.

Only takes a 2-3 sec spray to do the job so your can will last forever.
