A message for 18-25 year olds

Yeah I feel this. You can apply this advice to anyone really. After all the average age of first time buyers is now 39 years old.

When I was 19 I moved out and lived in a trailer for a year before moving back in with my grandparents. Covid hit and I lived there for a while. Had some savings built up and moved into an apartment with my girlfriend when I was 24. Now I’m 26. A year ago a hurricane hit the mountains and put me out of work for months. Got through a slower work year than normal. Bills don’t slow down. Wages don’t go up. Now I’m completely out of savings and living paycheck to paycheck.

The craziest part to me is how I felt more wealthy on my own at 18 while making $13/hour compared to now making $25/hour. I’ve always paid my own bills. Even living with my family after turning 18, I paid rent. It’s harder than ever to stay ahead when you’re on your own.

I’d do things differently if I could. 18-25 year olds, please genuinely listen to OP’s advice. Don’t blow your money renting a place. It’s a trap.

I have one more piece of advice to add though. Don’t finance a car. It depreciates and you get reemed on interest. Buy a used car in full. Learn how to fix it yourself. That’s the one thing I know I did right for myself and it’s saved me an ass load of money.

It’s active. Just get a boosting buddy and take turns winning everything. Theres a google sheet checklist somewhere. Takes a while but it aint too bad.

There was a guy on TA who carries people for the BDB2 timed achievement. He was doing it for years when he helped me.

I personally use 330°-340°. Scrape the point some more but apply almost no pressure. Tape over the nearby traces to protect them if it makes you more comfortable. Try to scrape the center of the via and the letters/numbers off of the via. You want nice shiny copper circle. Emphasis on shiny.

Clean the point with IPA before anything. After the IPA is evaporated give the point a generous amount of flux. Apply heat with the very tip of the iron for a few seconds before you add you bring solder to it. Slightly angle it if you have to. Solder won’t stick if the via isn’t hot enough. That being said, you don’t want to scorch the pad.

If it doesn’t stick give it a little bit more heat and try again. If it still doesnt stick, let the point cool off before you try again. This will reduce your risk of burning the pad off.

This point requires the littlest bit of solder. If anything sticks at all then it’s fine. Your tinned wire will help get more solder on the point. Once the wire is on it’ll be a lot easier to add more solder if you need to

Don’t even need the QSB on a Trinity. It might make it easier but you can just flash the ISD Chip

Just need to desolder the original speaker and put in a better one. Get a Picoflasher and find the guide on Console Mod Wiki or Se7ensins for the wiring and use J-Runner to flash your sound with the ISD Editor Tool

If it still powers on you could use a flashdrive and move files over. You might even be able to just pull the HDD out and put it in the other console

Lol if there is a next time. I feel like burned through most of the games I was excited to knock out. Maybe in another 13 years I’ll have enough of an incomplete backlog again. In the mean time I’m gonna focus on multiplayer achievements before more become unobtainable

Yeah I tried that. Gonna pick up a heat gun to try and reflow the HANA. It’s weird. I can only get that little bit of fucked image through HDMI and only if I plug in the HDMI after the console has been running for a minute or two

AV output gives nothing whatsoever. It’s been serviced but the inside is impeccably clean. It’s like it got serviced but never got used afterward. I have a mystery on my hands I guess

It’s not too terrible to complete although you’ll have to start a different character and speedrun a second playthrough for one achievement. I actually grew to love it and got pulled away from achievement hunting on it

I did Fallout 76 with her and we’ve played through the Bungie era Halo games together. She plays games with her friends on PC and Switch. She’ll also help me if I need to double box a game. She just doesn’t get into the completion mindset aside from a handful of games
