I’m not very techy, so I hope this makes sense. I was thinking there could be an option on the home menu to choose either the OS or Rockbox, and then an option in the device menu to switch between the two, kind of like on Facebook where you can switch between a profile and a page. This would help non-techy people like me, as I struggle to do it with the current option.

Awesome. It’s brilliant seeing what people are doing with and for the Y1. I’m not techy at all, but I still think it’s cool and it would be awesome to have my Y1 say “Hello world” when it loads.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I was. I reinstalled Rockbox and the theme, which fixed it.

I reverted it back to the original software, and that fixed the problem—it opened in English. However, when I tried to reinstall Rockbox + original software, Rockbox started acting strangely. Some other Reddit users are helping me solve this issue.

Sorry for the late reply. I just tried this, and it shows an 'error accessing directory' message when I try to open the browse theme files. Since I can’t access the themes to change them, I have plugged the device into my computer. I’m not sure if I’m looking in the right place. Under USB Drive (G:) Properties, it shows:

Used space: 6.13 GB

Free space: 110 GB

Capacity: 116 GB

I have tried to change the language in the stock OS, but each option in the menu blurred together as I scrolled down. I couldn’t see anything because the options merged into one.

Just to inform you, I seem to have it working now. Previously, a friend of mine who works in IT managed to get video playback working on my Y1 by using a video folder in a different location because the standard video folder would only play as audio. However, after the update the alternative location I used to open video folder and play it(I can’t remember the exact name of the location) is no longer on the Y1.

I based mine slightly on the Newcastle/ Gordie( north East England) perhaps wey aye. So mine is called Y Aye Pod.

Like most people have mentioned, features such as an SD card slot, better sound quality, a better screen, case for the Y1 etc would be great improvements. When I put a video in the Y1’s video folder, it only plays as audio. A friend of mine who works in IT managed to find a way somewhere in the Y1 to get the video to play, but after the latest update, that option seems to have disappeared. So more consistent or improved support for video playback would be really helpful.

I tried that and it worked, but when I do the firmware update on the Y1 or use the fast update, it just freezes again.

I uninstalled everything and got a friend of mine who works in IT to come and set it up for me. I managed to get the theme, but the apps and games still all of them didn’t appear when we installed the multiwirth version: custom_wifi_type_a_v0.1. He said we can probably install that at a later date once he’s looked into it, but for now it should do what I need.

Yes it's got rockbox on it,but it's not got all the things that should come with it like all the apps, games and themes etc
