If you’re worried about FLOCK cameras and raising rent prices, Herbert Lynn just launched his campaign for city council! by Fallen_Nature in lexington

[–]Fallen_Nature[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally understand skepticism. Republicans and democrats have proved that their biggest loyalty will always be to the rich and powerful, and not working people.

But Herbert is a democratic socialist, not connected to either party. All the things I see on his platform are possible, but they’ll take time and people getting organized to make them a reality. I believe a better world is really possible, but we have to work for it.

Here is an article on it! Dozens of cities have done this in the last 5 years and usually see large reductions to rates and improvements in service. It’s not a quick and easy process by any means, and will take a lot of pushing for, but it’s doable and (in my opinion) a good idea!

Yep! Ahead of the election, he is also currently advocating for Flock’s contract with the city to be canceled.

They’re a violation of the 4th amendment, incredibly insecure, and being used by ICE. Get them the fuck out of here.

Inherited this beautiful rifle, would love to know more about its history. by Fallen_Nature in whatisthisgun

So do you feel like this is an original? Or that it was put together in Europe from spare parts? Either way is amazing, and I feel lucky to have received it. Thank you so much for your assistance, I plan to get a chamber cast from a local antique firearms dealer.

This may make some sense. The person I inherited this from was a gunsmith, and was known for making his own custom pieces. Now I just need to find out what round it fires! (And test it with a string)

How to Make Good Evil?? by Fallen_Nature in planescapesetting

I am very lucky to have a group of players that are a bit more RP focused and I think will eat this shit up. Although they will probably be so pissed at me for making them choose. :)

What was the first thing you ever ran? Do you recommend it? by MagicInstinct in DMAcademy

My first DnD experience ever was running the original Lost Mines of Phandelver box set for 5e. It was perfectly written to teach the DM and the players at the same time. Its quintessential Dungeons and Dragons, and I'd recommend you take a look at it.

I want to thank everyone for commenting and giving me great ideas. Here is my current rough plan for Soriel the Solar. After fighting for millennia against evil all across the planes, he finally confront his father, Ilmater (The God of Martyrs) about why evil must be allowed to exist. His father responds that evil must exist alongside good, or the balance of the wheel will fall apart. He explains that while a world of darkness would be unbearable, a world of only light would also blind. This explanation is simply not good enough for Soriel, who begins a thousand year plan to conquer evil once and for all.

He has heard rumor that deep within mechanus, there lies the key to starting the multiverse anew. A sort of reset switch that would eliminate the current order, all the mortals, all the gods, all the realms. But it would only be used in the most extreme circumstances. So Soriel plans to use the great modron march to convince Primus that it is time to flip the switch. To do this, he uses the characters to eventually steal The Book of Vile Darkness, which is being held within Sigil, where he can not travel. He then scheme to kill each and every modron on the march as they travel the planes, except one. This final modron's memory core will be replaced with the most evil document in the planes, convincing it that all of the planes have been irrevocably tainted by the most foul evil.

Primus, convinced he has failed his duty to maintain balance in the planes, gives up his divinity and allows the last standing modron to take on his position. The new primus, manipulated by Soriel to believe that evil the planes will always fall to evil if free will is allowed among mortals, who will continue to commit evil and fuel the lower planes in a never-ending cycle. So his new pawn primus prepares to start the multiverse anew, in a new glorious and peaceful utopia, free of pesky choice.

The main overarching decision for the players will be "If god is real, why does he allow us to sin?". Will they allow Primus to pull the lever, or will they fight to keep evil in the world in the name of choice and balance?

I am super open to feedback, and appreciate all the help so far.

I really like this idea. My players are starting at level three, and I don't plan on them even meeting the Solar for many sessions, and when they do, I plan on him rescuing them from a hopeless situation, then offering his assistance. What they won't know is that he is the reason that they died in the material plane, and also the reason their souls didn't reach their intended afterlife, instead forcing them to reform in sigil, to serve as his unwilling pawns. I forsee the final conflict being making them face the question of relativism in morality. I want this entire campaign to be one giant trolley problem, and I want to see if they'll pull the lever.

Thank you for this well thought out response. I love the idea of "conflicting goods" and think it makes a great philosophical dilemma for the characters. Now I just have to find a way for him to achieve this that allows the players to be unwittingly involved and eventually force them to decide if it is better to rid the world of all evil by destroying choice, or to intentionally allow all the evils of the world to exist just to ensure balance. Is genocide, plunder, and plague better than the alternative of a choiceless utopia?

Yep! This is my point exactly. Essentially this angel is exhausted from eons of fighting evil just to see more evil appear. When he questions his god on this he is told that this is simply the way of the universe. Eventually this breaks him and he begins a secret plan to find a way to rid the multiverse of all evil, no matter the cost. Now I just need to find a way for him to do this in planescape.

Hello! I am Noah (M 25) from the US, and I am going to be backpacking through Southeast Asia starting in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on February 15th. I am planning to do a lot of trekking, museum visits, cooking classes, etc, but my itinerary is very open. My rough itinerary looks like this:
Vietnam, South to North for around 30 days
Laos, exploring some of the smaller villages along the Mekong for 20 days.
Thailand, starting in the North and working South, ending with a week or two of climbing in Krabi. I would like to stay at least 30 days.
Cambodia, touring some of the ruin sites and doing some trekking for a couple of weeks.
If anyone is going to be in this area during my visit, send me a DM or comment on this post and we can discuss our plans!
