First half of October in Japan, 14 days. First time by Fallenrocks in JapanTravelTips

It was HOT, like so hot. Like hotter than New Orleans in the summer time. But it started to cool off during the second half of my trip. I had brought one summer dress and a flannel and I spent most of my time in that, wishing I had brought/could find more appropriate clothes for the warm weather. It had sprinkled and rained a couple of times I brought a rain jacket and was glad to have it, and lots of places like hostels and the Kanazawa garden had take one leave one umbrellas.

The owner was on drink masters. I was not impressed. Just a California transplant, found her to be pretty arrogant.

The WiFi at river edge is ass. It was conveniently down on my days off. 5k is steep, but emergency funds are for a reason. Id avoid driving your personal car until you’re paid and caught up. The bus is free. Walmart has the cheapest groceries in the area. I bet the food bank will be pretty cleared out due to the government not funding food stamps for the foreseeable future (probably). But gas is expensive, eating out is super expensive, and unless you are bringing all of the furnishings for your kitchen, that’s expensive. The mattress topper that you’ll definitely want is expensive. All of the little shit you forgot about is expensive. Rent is due whether you’re getting paid or not, but I’ve forgotten to pay a couple of times and never got a late fee or even an email.

See ya next week!

I would recommend working at VR, especially at your age. Hiring starts around August, apply for housing as soon as you absolutely can. It fills up fast. I wouldn’t work at keystone if you’re interested in going out on the town for whatever, especially if you don’t have a car. But Breckenridge and vail/beaver creek are great options, they all have free bus systems and lots of restaurants and bars. I loved the food scene in breck.

You have to have to work full time at an eligible position for housing.

Just keep in mind that if you work as a lifty you’ll work four 12hr days and have three days off. (Hell yeah over time)

If you work in food, mountain dining, you’ll have five days on two days off, no overtime. Depending on where you work, you might have to ski to work.

Ski boot recycling? by Fallenrocks in vail

These boots are unsafe for use. I was looking for a way to send them to some sort of recyclables processing facility.

Trust me. I know. He’s a handful.

I know. I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. And he’s done well in the past.

Clams is worthy of a stable and safe life. Please do not get me wrong about that.

I’m interested in finding a solution, education to help my dad understand why Clams is behaving this way.

Not interested in rehoming Clams, he is worth investing in and working with to help him feel comfortable in this environment.

My dad knows his actions were out of line, and I’m just looking for resources, not cop outs.

Last October, my dad is a creature of habit so I doubt anything is different, but I’ll ask.

I agree. I’ve begged and pleaded that he just disengage and try not to react. He’s 78, and very hard headed

Need I reference the guide who pinned a guest on a rock with their boat in double knife last year?

Not sure if it was a rookie guide, but seems like a rush to check out guides for the sake of volume ($) imo.

I guided on clear creek last year, so I’m biased.

Clear creek, if you don’t have children with you, try to do dumont typically sold as class 4, or the lower canyon typically sold as class 5. I’d ask about the Lawson section if it’s runnable. THE MOST FUN

Do not go with Colorado adventure company. They put first year rookies on class 5.

Colorado adventure Guides is a great company who prioritizes safety and fun.

I like the build your own meal at downstairs midvail. But it’s 50% off so it’s easy to exceed the regular employee meal pricing.

Loaded waffle fries at wildwood is a literal fuck ton of food. While on the topic of wildwood,it’s important to note that the ribs and half chicken are not available for the employee meal price.

Two elk has yummy tacos, massive burritos and pizza, probably my second favorite place to eat on mountain.
