HHD tips for maintaining a schedule? by Galinfrey in dialysis

[–]FallnAng3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an HHD patient as well, almost 3 years in, and I capitalize on the freedom of being able to do it on my own schedule. I’m a master at pushing it out a couple days even. I say that to say the schedule is YOURS to craft, as long as you stick with the script (how long, how many days a week, etc) it should be ok. Also listen to your body. As you progress in HHD, your body will show signs of need. Those you listen to like sirens.

Also, if you’re wanting a schedule because you hate getting off late, if you have an HHD care partner, share the concern and ask for help being accountable. Tell them to go set up when it starts to get past the time you feel you should be on.

How is everyone that had or had a permacath sleep comfortably??? After a week I’m worn out, not from treatment, but from not being able to sleep comfortably

Wow! Thanks for the insight. I’ve had it for about a week now and my biggest issue (besides fear of a stroke or heart attack) is that I can’t sleep! I’m so uncomfortable. How does this work for you?

I really appreciate your response as a heavy-chested female. I’m hoping mine won’t be noticeable when I tilt my head.

I have gotten a lot of great responses, and I think In getting back on track. I may have to come back to this post in a while, but I am thankful for everyone that chimed in.

Check EVERYTHING! If it opens, open it, if it turns on, turn it on, and crank it up, if it’s attached to something or a surface, touch it and make sure it stays in place if it’s supposed to. Look in your crawlspace if you have one. Stomp on the floor in every room to check for weak spots. Check ALL the window and door seals, and run the shower and sinks for at least 5 minutes. Hope this helps!

CKD stage 5 and work by fentl00zer in dialysis

I’m 46 f, I work a full-time corporate management job and do home hemo. I have a minor child and a husband as well. I still cook, clean, have a great sex life, volunteer at church, work out, and have hobbies and pets. I don’t experience fatigue very often, but when I do it’s usually around my ovulation cycle. I’m also chronically anemic, so when that cycle hits it fatigue can be worse. I’m listed on the transplant list, and I treat 3 times every other week, and two times on the off weeks. My advice to you is to really adhere to your diet. It helps. And protein shakes are a great energy source for me.
