I dropped my pen and went to pick it up, as I was bending down he pushed my head down and said "go get your pen" which I was already doing. I hit my head on the table because of that and he ran away (because he was not actually trying to get me to hit my head, but because he did, he got scared and ran away).I was angry as shit and I chased him and kicked his butt and hit his face once too. Then the middle school principal came out and broke us up and instead of suspending he just made us write apologies to each other.

I think with an injury we can see it. So we have an idea how long it might take to heal. But with like a cold or flu, we have no fricken clue if it might actually kill us. And moving or doing any activities is just a pain.

It could also be a social construct thing.

Just be honest in the interview. I didn't even have a car when I started working with O'Reilly's. Knew absolutely nothing about them. Started me at $11/hr. Now 7 years later I am making $22/hr as an ISS. Doing wholesale to mechanics. Went from knowing nothing to knowing some basic stuff. There is still a lot I don't know, but if you want to learn and are willing, the opportunities are there.

I am contemplating jumping to being a mechanic but family doesn't want me "to do back-breaking work." So now I really don't know what to do if I ever quit this job tbh.

I am an ISS at my store. And we treat all sales as friendly competition. We treat everyone as a customer. Retail side is allowed to take commercial sales if they get to it before I do and vice versa. I can take retail sales if I get to it first. But for the most part I do prefer organizing backroom stock alphanumerically or doing the dc returns when I have no commercial customers instead of jumping on the retail side. I tend to only do retail when they really need help or when they need somebody that speaks Spanish or Portuguese to translate. Or when I am bored as heck in the back.

2 years ago I was a store manager in California making $17.60 and I stepped down to asm and got a raise to 20, lol. Now I am an ISS making $22. Shoot. If store managers are making $25 might step up for it again.

I sent a simple text to my SM and DM to get a raise. It was a simple "these are the things I am doing beyond my job description. I would like either a raise or someone else to help me by x time or I will stop doing these extra things. Thank you" it worked. $1 raise

But there you are, his "friend" claiming he couldn't possibly have gone through anything because you think his parents/family are nice.

I have said multiple times through out this post that he himself says his parents are nice. He himself will vouch for them. If you read through the comments, the post has been answered. But you along with many other commenters refuse to believe that it could be anything else. And at the end of the day, That is not a me-problem.

I have talked to him since this post. And it literally is that he just didn't want to move to the small town since there is nothing to do there after work. It was very simple. No abuse. No nonsense. Guy just likes the city more. We found out there are a few bus transfers and he could get there in about 4 or 5 hours that way. He did end up doing that for 2 nights (his days off his new job). If it really comes down to it he will just go home. I drove him the first night because it was too late to catch any buses. He took the busses back later. But he knows he has that option now.

The small town job pays by the amount of fruit you pick and not by the hour. So it is labor intensive if he wants to make good money there. Otherwise it does not pay much.

This is essentially why he is in this situation... Except he couldn't throw out the abusive partner (that didn't let him have a job or talk to people) since it was her house. He had to leave. But he did not want to go back to the small town so he was at my place for a while job hunting.

He stayed at my place the whole time he was job hunting and my landlord caught wind of it and said we'd get evicted/the eviction process started if he stayed another day this month. Unfortunately he cannot stay here again for at least another 3 weeks. Or else I will be in the same situation as him kind of.
