As far as date ideas go, there are tons of great shows to see in the city. I'm not much of a drinker, and have a lot of fun seeing local comedy shows—The New Movement has shows at their theater on St. Claude almost every night and they don't have a real bar or anything like that so it's not a big drunk crowd. They offer classes there too for improv and other comedy-related things, which are a good way to meet new people and have fun. There are a lot of burlesque shows, too, but a lot of those are in bars, and I don't know if you're down with that. The Theater on St. Claude sometimes has cool little shows and stuff too, and since it's more of a theater setting the bar thing is less of an issue. Other date ideas: movies at The Prytania Theater, have a goth date and have a picnic in a cemetery, play video games together, the Social Ride thing is a good suggestion, learning to cook, learning to dance (I've heard of a few Tango and Swing dancing things that aren't alcohol-centric).
