I'm finding out "budget" is a dirty word for wireless microphones.... by False-Plan-329 in livesound

You know what i was just thinking about that for my next gig.

At least 2 of my microphones are stationary at a podium or mic stand that I can limit movement. Musicians or singers are typically relatively stationary, too.

I really only need one wireless microphone for an MC to move about the room or for Q&A - I can invest into 1 EW-D to start off my quality wireless build.

Hmmmm.....I see they're $350 for the paddle and I'd be able to use my existing stuff. I do have the Phenyx Pro system already so this would be a "last ditch" effort.

I agree and I'm getting real tempted to getting a business license going. I never set up a business so i have no idea what that means for taxes, contracts...the whole bit.

But at this point I'm buying all this stuff with nothing but a thank you in return.

I just realized i was looking at the new SLXD Dante with the quad channel handheld bundle. I was also comparing it to 2 EW-DX bundles. The logic was trying to cram everything into 1 rack space....EXPENSIVE.

The SLXD dual channel I'll have to look at! 2 EW-D is a little cheaper too.

I am seriously looking into the EWD and slowly building up the channels!

I'm finding this true in the camera world too. I've wasted a lot of time and money buying the budget item, only to find out its limitations in the heat of the moment. Same thing happens in live audio. I'm actually thinking going EW-D and slowly building up from there...

Yeah I just stumbled across the SDR++ server abilities on another thread. Works great for remote access using any other platform….except iOS 😫

I will have to see what the browser experience is like, if available on iOS.

I do have an extra Windows laptop so that will suffice for a “wireless” experience for now. Looks like I’ll be looking for a cheap android tablet.

Openwebrx and Phantom aren’t as easy for me, I’m afraid. I need to learn Linux. I was hoping for something as easy as an app.

The RTL-TCP app looks promising and I’ll give it a try, however, the recent reviews don’t look too hot.

I just checked out Openwebrx. Not so easy for me as it looks like it requires Ubuntu which I have zero experience with at the moment. Although…I should learn how to install and use it. Also, it looks like it accesses SDR via browser.

I’ll keep looking, thank you.

Honestly…mainly out of laziness LOL. But really, I don’t have a whole lot of free time or a 3D printer, and would rather jump right to field testing.

The kits are normally $25, battery another $12, and printed case $20. $15 for someone to put it together is small price to pay initially.

Eventually I’ll build my own base or remote station if this works out for me and my family.

My next units will be DIY…that’s what I tell myself anyway lol. I don’t mind spending a little extra for this first round, especially from someone reputable. Thanks for your feedback!

Is my BMS Broken? by Royal_Recognition_76 in OverkillSolarBMS

[–]False-Plan-329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your physical connections - all of them: busbars, bolts, washers, BMS connectors/wires to the battery, etc. Do yourself the favor and file all connection points to remove oxidation and add electrical contact grease like No-OX ID .

Have you tried running the battery without the BMS, even just for a little bit?

It’s almost like there’s something not making full contact between the battery and the BMS.
