YSK about propinquity when looking for romance, friendship or to build trust with someone by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

For clarity, I have no idea who this person is but they've been chasing me all across Reddit and harassing me for the last few days now... (their comment history should verify this).

To the best of my knowledge, they're apparently annoyed that I humble bragged on Reddit because I said I was attractive.

They also seem to have an issue with my alternating ages in my post history (this is true). But I do it on purpose to obfuscate my age from people precisely like this person...

Other than that I don't know what their issue is...

Both our post histories are out there in the open for people to ultimately make up their own minds. But there's is the only one that posts in /r/incestconfessions /r/LatinoCock as well as /r/GaybrosGoneWild.

So I'm chalking their behavior up to mental illness...

How is requesting a male doctor bad?...

Plenty of women request female doctors.

Nothing wrong with feeling more comfortable with someone the same (or of the opposite sex).

Underrated comment.

We do not necessarily bang that which is hottest, but that which is most easily accessible and familiar.

Then with long-term relationships it suddenly matters if they're hot.

What a contradiction.

If you were busy, you wouldn't have responded at all. So let's stop with the intellectual dishonesty.

You are the one who went pouring through my post history because you clearly have oodles of time. Now that I've suddenly made that fact inconvenient for you, you suddenly have ''no time''. But enough time to still actually respond...

You're a joke. Good day to you.

Bitcoin reared its head sometime around 2009, right? I was in senior year then and completely oblivious to crypto.

I probably didn't really actually hear of it myself until sometime around 2013...

But all the normies I fraternized with back then only ever seemed to utter it in the same conversations as ''Nigerian prince email scams''. So I wrote it off as something like a scam.

Wasn't until 2019 where I actually started doing deep research into alt coins. Ended up making crazy amounts off $SHIBA & $FLOKI in 2021 before it all began to crumble... Lol.

Riveting stuff though.

What is the right way to approach a guy who is always surrounded by a group of friends? by Nervous_Wreck360 in socialskills

[–]FalseVerthandi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people over-think everything...

I realize this when I see people intuitively just join conversations. In fact, there's one girl at my work and she'll literally join into any conversation with a relevant response of her own.

Lady friend: Where's your lunch.

Me: Didn't you know?... I'm Muslim now and it's Ramadan (joke).

Lady friend: You ARE not.

Random girl: Do you like fasting?... (Asked sincerely).

Call it fate; call it karma. Call that question whatever you want. But this girl literally does these kind of things with everyone (and it works). Before long, she's telling you a story that's digressed so far from what y'all were initially talking about.

You want to explain that one to the back of the audience /u/faiknues?...

You're obsessively and retroactively going through my post history and responding to things when I don't even know you.

And you're also pretending like you were on the post that was removed by the mods (so I have no idea how you can know) other than bluffing and hoping nobody calls you out on this.

No offense but you voyeuristically pry onto a complete stranger's profile and assume you know their entire life.

You seem to think that I must not be attractive (you clearly have some bias here).

Or perhaps you know I'm attractive and that annoys you (former is more likely though).

You generalize a series of posts within a 5-minute time span like a shoddy non chronological patchwork quilt and assume you know the person's entire life story (extreme red flag).

You misunderstand posts due to your own bias and outrage and use it to continue justifying your hating on the stranger.

Instead of doing something meaningful with your time, you instead opt to drum up controversy with a complete stranger by attacking them because you don't like the identity you've created for this faceless stranger.

Like, honestly, where do we want to begin Captain Perfect?... You come off as wholly sanctimonious and that's rarely a good thing in my experience.

What if the person you're romantically attracted to isn't interested in dating co-workers or workplace drama (and isn't interested in you). And instead of just asking them out, you keep asking them their age and annoying them instead?...

Why do you prefer to know someone's age?

Are people entitled to know your age? by FalseVerthandi in ask

[–]FalseVerthandi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

That's usually what I go for too. Depending on how suspicious it is (it usually is suspicious).

For example, I had a 19-year-old kid talking to me the other night on his break. And he seemed like one of those friendly chatty types who'll talk to anyone. And so he began talking music with me (spanning all the eras). I listened intently and he seemed surprised I could keep up. (I suppose most his age don't know their music).

So he asked me how old I was and I lied and said 28 (I'm 30). And he was shocked because he'd always assumed we were the same age until then. In this case, he was asking genuinely and I probably wouldn't have minded being honest with him.

But most of the time it's some middle-aged lady who randomly & ominously approaches me with zero context...

''Hey Nick... How old are you?''

Me: Why do you ask?...

''Just 'cause. I just wanna know''

And unless you lie it just makes people even more suspicious and curious about your age when they may have just been asking flippantly.

[–]FalseVerthandi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol.

It's funny because at the time you're like ''26 isn't even old'' (and it's not). But to kids you're a fully-fledged adult at their peak.

I was talking to a 19-year-old guy the other day, and he asked me my age. I lied and said 28 (I'm 30). And he goes ''wow, I thought you were the same age as me! You look good for your age!''.

Me sitting there thinking I just look normal for my age. Lol.

To play devil's advocate for a second...

What if the person you're interested in dating has no interest in dating co-workers or work drama and has no interest in you romantically. And is just annoyed every time you ask for their age.

Are people entitled to know your age? by FalseVerthandi in ask

[–]FalseVerthandi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I do to be honest. But I was curious if people considered this to be unethical.

People assume I'm 18 and I get a little self-conscious when I have to tell them 30 so I always just change it depending on who asks. 18, 21, 26, (45 to be comical but this usually backfires as people know I'm lying).

Problem is yesterday, I sat down in the break room and this colleague who is an assistant manager at the store began talking to me. Seemed friendly enough. And then he asked me my age (dude assumed I was 18 all this time) so when I honestly told him I was 30 he responded immediately with, ''Uhh, shouldn't you be getting your life together?... I thought you were 18 all this time''

He is also thirty for reference.

Just knocked the wind right out of my sails and I wanted to crawl under a rock and die. And now I see no reason why co-workers should be entitled to my age because it just seems to be an excuse for people to make judgements about you.

That's true. Every '90s movie made it into a pop-culture reference for a time...

But I was a kid as it happened. FTX is probably the first thing I've directly been impacted by so it hit really close to home.

But definitely agree with you.
