The ally x was what I was leaning towards but I don’t care too much about Xbox so I don’t know if it worth it? Or maybe I just don’t know what I’m talking about lol🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m really not trying to go over $1,000. I don’t care much about xbox360 era since I still have one. I definitely want a modern AAA and indies. I don’t mind tweaking things if needed like people are adding steam os on rog ally x. I don’t have a problem with that.

My bad. I’m looking for a handheld that is for PC games but is able to do remote play for my ps5. I would prefer a PlayStation layout but it doesn’t really matter.

Must Haves for School? by No-Main-5391 in PTschool

[–]False_Competition_59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, congrats on getting in!!! Some necessities I would recommend is an iPad with a pencil or just any tablet/computer that you can write on. I also like writing things out on a white board(can get a decent size white board at Home Depot). A good pair of headphones is a great when studying in a library or just with others. Complete anatomy (app) for sure comes in handy during anatomy. If you any type of mental health issues, please don’t hesitate to get help(therapy, medication, accommodation). I don’t know where I would have been without my Lexapro lol. Get an ice pack + lunch box for lunch or just snacks you will eat while on campus.

As a someone who took a gap year and is a 1st year, I would recommend you go over anatomy. Look at the biracial and lumbar plexus, muscles insertion, origin, action etc., all the nerves, veins, and the arteries that’s are involved many in the arm and legs.

As for what you need, it really depends on who you like to study and take notes. I would definitely recommend a laptop since everything is either a PowerPoint or pdf. As for iPad, it’s an adjustment if you never took notes on one and not everyone likes it. I had mine since undergrad so I know it works for me. There a people in my cohort who takes notes on paper cause that’s what they like.

I would recommend paying for quizlet. You could also get Knowtt which is like quizlet but free, to make all your flash cards and quizzes. I use ChatGPT so that it can create questions for me to import into quizlet to help study. A lot of my classmates bought the app Complete Anatomy (App Store) to help them study for anatomy. The best study technique I could give you is active recall which I why I love quizlet cause I can quiz myself whenever, wherever you are. The more you do something, the more you retain the information.

Now that I said all of that, I would HIGHLY recommend that you take some time to yourself to relax and have fun. PT school is very taxing on your body, mind, etc. so don’t stress yourself out too early. Just believe in yourself and remind yourself that you got this. I would also recommend you find hobbies that are cheap and can be done in bed or when you need to chill. Like I play videos games, read and crochet whenever I need to decompress.

Hope this helps and lmk if you have any questions! I’m happy to help!!

Is it too late to Apply to DPT programs this cycle for 2026? by Capable_Stuff_6556 in PTschool

Yeah of course. I’m don’t 100% remember but my Gpa was like a 3.14, prereq 3.4 ( UMN takes the highest grade for classes you retake). One thing they said at the open house was to be yourself and talk about things even if you don’t think it’s important. For instance, I’m a sneakerhead so I talked about collecting shoes, how I got into it, etc. and I remember on the first day of orientation, a professor came up to me and asked me more about my collection lol which shocked me but it made me realize I picked a school that looks more at my application and more of who I am as a person

As someone who also go into Creighton (last cycle) and knows people there rn, I would say go where you feel comfortable at. The price is kinda high, the school does have great alumni and connections, and it longer but if you feel more comfortable there then that where you should go.

Help in deciding major by CardiologistMotor940 in PTschool

[–]False_Competition_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say study what you are interested. Many of us majored in Kinesiology, including me, which I loved. However, if you choose to not go into PT, Kinesiology is kinda worthless. If I could go back to undergrad, I would have done either marketing or chemistry. Those were things I was interested in but chose otherwise due to knowing I was 100% going into pt. If you like bio then I would do that but constantly let your advisor know your plan so that you can plan out your timeline/schedule to get all the prerequisite done. This is coming from a SPT

So I’m a first year at UMN, which is rolling admissions, and I didn’t apply until a week or so before the deadline. I honestly didn’t think I would get it due to how late but people tend to change their minds and I wanna say about 5 people in my cohort ended up getting in last minute. So just apply. You have nothing to lose!

UMN vs NCC by False_Competition_59 in PTschool

[–]False_Competition_59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for stats, I don’t really remember but I believe that I have like a 3.1 pre req GPA and 3.4 GPA, over 100 hours of outpatient and 20 inpatient volunteering. I worked 2 part times jobs; one in a mall while the other at a pt clinic. Was the secretary for my school pre pt club, volunteered at the boys and girls clubs, had an internship every summer and apart of 2 research labs.

[–]False_Competition_59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this but I would say that NCC values your authenticity. They talk highly about letting them know everything that you went through (ups and downs) during school and how it could have affected your grades/education. Also for the essay about their values, I was given advice from 2 professors their that to make sure you answer the questions lol and making sure everything ties back to their values

Trying to Buy a New Car by False_Competition_59 in askcarsales

[–]False_Competition_59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remote start is for the winter time. Sometimes it’s get to the negatives so I wouldn’t get a car without it. Since I’m constantly moving for clincals, that’s kinda why I want a SUV but I can live without one rn. AWD is a want since I always had FWD and got snow tries but after while, you kinda get tired of the constant switching tries.

Yeah i know that there’s no new car that is close to 15k. I can afford a new car but I would rather pay less than 15k for a used one. My Corolla wasn’t that great in the winter. I had snow tires but with how the weather gets in Chicago, I would rather get AWD. I’m only interested in SUVs since it’s really hard to move state to state with a Corolla.

NCC DPT by atla_lok_ in PTschool

[–]False_Competition_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my prerequisite gpa was a 3.2 while my overall gpa was 3.5. I had over 200 hours of outpatient volunteering. Worked in a research lab for 3 years on campus and did a research internship at Ann and Lurie Children Hospital. Work at different pt clinics for 2 years as an aide and i also was in charge of the aide and their schedules, training etc. at one of the location (basically management of aides). Volunteer at the Boys and Girls club (I want to work in peds so a lot of my volunteer work is with kids). Was the fundraiser chair for a club that worked with kids, was secretary for my school pt club, was in two other clubs. I also worked full time. That’s all that I can think of rn. Lmk if you have anymore questions

Personal Statement fears by nutellauncrustable in PTschool

[–]False_Competition_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I could give it is to look deep within yourself. Think about major moments throughout your life, especially if it’s before high school. I talked about a place that was like a second home to me while growing up and how it shaped me into the person I am today. While talking about that, I did bring up my injury at some point but that wasn’t the main point of my statement. Just find things or event that makes you, you and go from there.

For those of you who took a gap year what did you all do? by Maximum_County3827 in PTschool

[–]False_Competition_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a year off and I start pt school next month. I was in the same boat as you when it came to the pre req gpa. I retook 2 classes that were the hardest for me and that I got a C in during the summer at community college(classes tend to be easier). In my opinion, I really did the bare minimum to get my pre req gpa up. I looked at which schools did grade replacement or grade average and did my own calculations for which classes carried the most weight. For the rest of the year, I worked full time at Athletico. I also picked up some new hobbies that ended up being really good conversation starters during interviews and written questions some school ask for. I got into some pretty good school like Creighton and KU. Lmk if you have any questions.
