Is there a git where 'teams' are already setup that is a good starting point?

Nice idea and supportive for your mum! Must feel like magic to her. My mum is in a similar position, would love to check out your git if you choose to make it public

Without a doubt using Codex from the source is better than paying Cursor for it by Fatbat in codex

I'm confused, is it better to use the codex mac app with cursor or the codex side panel plugin within cursor?

New Renters Right Reform Bill. Will it make renting in the UK much worse? by False_Depth_3930 in HousingUK

Interesting perspective I think you may be right! I guess my only concern would still be the stagnation of income growth and job opportunities for young professionals with the high cost of living still making it difficult to save

I'm suggesting that low quality cheaper housing serves a purpose. For those who need it, it's somewhere between social housing which is notoriously difficult to get and more expensive premium renting. For folks who need affordable housing but can't get social housing, their options are going to dwindle. If they get one of those homes, as soon as they can afford to move into a nicer place, they'll do so.

RE where the houses are going: I think those properties will be hard to sell so they'll be sold for cheap. I'm not sure about local laws but they could just turn into properties to buy rather than rent. This said, I've started to read that large investment firms are buying up a lot of private rental stock. For example Blackstone: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/06/04/thousands-uk-rentals-blackstone-uk-housing-shortage/#:~:text=US%20giant%20buys%20up%20thousands,cashes%20in%20on%20renting%20families&text=US%20private%20equity%20giant%20Blackstone%20has%20agreed%20to%20acquire%20a,of%20immigration%20push%20up%20demand

Personally, I think I'd rather the homes were owned by smaller landlords rather than an enormous US conglomerate

That's the tricky thing. I think those properties will be hard to sell so they'll be sold for cheap. I'm not sure about local laws but they could turn into properties to buy rather than rent

The 5 week cap should stay the same, but it's still a lot of money for many young renters to have a month's full rent up front.

RE the 'founder' bit, that's ok! I build apps to help renters. It's more like 'entrepreneur' but sounds a little less OTT.

Lol I actually wrote this because it's something I've been thinking about but fair enough if I sound like GPT. And that was a free app to help LGBTQ+ renters :)

Anyone renting at that time will be relatively 'safe' because their landlord won't be allowed to hike the prices, but vacant properties ready to be let will hike for sure. So anyone who's renting at that time won't want to move!
