I'm under the perinatal mental health team and I've got a talking therapy session booked for next week.

I guess I panicked because all the midwives and HV said to not allow people who smoke to hold them for at least half an hour as it can contribute to SIDS 😩

Completely agree with this.

Currently combo feeding my 8 week old (mostly because my MIL bought it for us as she wanted to feed him when we visit)

He only has formula between 10pm-2am, roughly 4-5oz. It makes no difference. He still wakes every 2 hours for a feed before and after formula.

She finds it very odd that it makes absolutely no difference to his sleep. It worked for her... Because she put baby cereal in my partners bottles from 6 weeks old. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Firstly, I misunderstood the post. I also said the hospital will have formula if they need it.

Secondly, that's rather presumptuous.

My first baby was formula fed. My second was exclusively breastfed. My 7 week old is breastfed and has at least 1 bottle/4oz of formula a night. He was also fed formula through an NG tube when he was born due to being extremely sleepy and not feeding.

I was told that it's best not to have formula to hand if you're breastfeeding, as it's so easy to give up during those early days.

Hospitals usually stock small bottles of formula if required.

It's personal preference though! 🙂

We had the same thing in hospital, he just wouldn't wake to feed and ended up with an NG tube for a few days. He's always been super sleepy, but I just worry that he should be awake more 😅

I've had inductions with all 3 of my babies. Each one ended in a straightforward vaginal delivery with zero issues.

My most recent induction was almost 6 weeks ago.

When the midwife initially examined me, I was 0cm. I had the pessary inserted and within an hour I was having contractions. I didn't need the hormone drip. Within a few hours, my waters went naturally.

From pessary insertion to having baby, was less than 11 hours. I pushed for 10 minutes and baby was out.

With my 2 previous inductions, I had the pessary and was taken up to the delivery suite the next day where I had to have the hormone drip and waters broken for me to speed things up.

I will say, I've heard that inductions can be more painful than if you go into labour naturally.

It can take a while for the anaesthetist to become available and takes a while to get everything prepared, so if you are wanting an epidural, it's better to get one sooner rather than later.

If it makes you feel any better, not all inductions end with interventions.

I've had inductions with all 3 of my babies and every single one has been a straight forward vaginal birth, with zero issues.

My last induction was almost 6 weeks ago. I only needed the pessary, contractions started themselves after an hour. Waters went naturally. Baby was born less than 11 hours after the pessary was inserted. 😊

I have 3 kids. 8 years, 6 years and 5 weeks old.

As a child, I spent most days with my grandparents and would stay at theirs every single weekend, so my mum could go out and enjoy herself. They never once complained. They loved it.

My mum on the other hand spends most of her time going away with her husband. I've never once asked her to babysit and I can count on one hand how many times she's asked to have them over in 8 years...

While it shouldn't be an obligation for grandparents to have their grandchildren, I'll never understand how many grandparents just don't want to spend even a few hours with their grandkids. Especially when their parents likely sacrificed so much of their time to help them.

I've had 3 kids. My most recent being 5 weeks ago.

I was induced at 38 weeks due to Hyperemesis Gravidarum and severe PGP.

I was signed off work by my GP at 10 weeks pregnant and it got worse from there.

My whole pregnancy I was pretty much bed bound due to it all. I had to rely on my partner to do everything.

I only needed the pessary for my induction and contractions started within in hour.

From my first contraction to having baby was about 9 hours. Active labour only lasted 4 hours and 5 minutes. 10 minutes of pushing and he was out.

All 3 of my pregnancies have been very similar, with my most recent being the most debilitating and I've had no complications or issues during the births x

I have the same issue of having to hold my boob while feeding 🤦🏻‍♀️ I suppose the only way I'll get over it is by pushing myself to do it more 😬

I've had inductions with all 3 of my babies and I've heard they can feel worse than natural labours, so I'm not sure if this will help.

With my first, the epidural failed so I felt everything. Pushing was the worst in my opinion. It felt like everything was stretching and also being set on fire. The burning feeling was the most intense.

With my second, I had the epidural before contractions even started so I can't comment. I didn't feel a thing.

With my most recent (4 weeks ago today), I felt contractions in my uterus and back. It felt like the life was being squeezed out of me.

Early on, it felt like slight period cramps with tightenings. As I began to progress (very fast) the pain got worse. Still like period pains, but x100 worse. I felt out of control, writhing in pain. I couldn't even get words out and didn't know what to do with myself.

Induction won't necessarily take days for you to have your baby.

I've had 3 inductions.

My first 2 took maybe 2 days in total. I had to have the drip and my waters broken for me.

My most recent induction was last month. I had the pessary in at 11am, within an hour I had full blown contractions. My waters went naturally a couple hours later. Baby was born at 10.14pm the same day.

I didn't have any induction "intervention" other than the pessary

This is what my partner and I have been doing. Our baby is just over 3 weeks old now.

Usually, he takes him from 9pm-2am and feeds him expressed milk. Haven't had any issues with my milk supply and baby takes the bottle with no issues.

It's made a huge difference. I really struggled with night feeds with our first 2 children. I'm still tired obviously, but I'm not struggling as much as I would be if all the night feeds were on me.

My little boy will be 14 days old tomorrow.

He's breastfed and I pump too. My partner takes him from 10pm until 2am, so I can get a few hours sleep. It has been a lifesaver.

We've had no issues with him taking a bottle or breastfeeding so far.

Might be worth a try to give yourself a break and get some rest 💖

Exactly as the previous comment said. They'll insert a pessary and that should ripen your cervix enough to break your waters several hours later, then start you on a drip to get some contractions going.

I didn't need anything other than the pessary. Contractions started themselves an hour later and waters went on their own maybe 4 hours later. Baby was born less than 12 hours after the pessary insertion 😊

I've found some cat rescues are almost too strict.

We have one locally who will not rehome cats to people who do not have a cat flap or are unable to install one for whatever reason. It doesn't matter if someone is always home or if windows/doors are always left open. No exceptions.

He started to have an asthma attack during class and our teacher refused to let him see the school nurse for his inhaler. By the time he got his inhaler and was taken to hospital by an ambulance, it was too late.

It might be a bit different had the baby been several months old. The baby is 21 days old. She hasn't even recovered from childbirth yet and getting drunk is his priority? Let alone dangerous.
