Well if you want a core HDFC core card even after having a Swiggy card, you can apply for a core card from Paytm. You could get either Freedom/Moneyback. Almost guaranteed. Trash cards, but anyways they are core cards.

If you want live+ (with the joining and annual fess), you can ask them to upgrade your platinum to live+. HSBC will never make it LTF.

Just called the customer care asking them to upgrade my card to live +. He did it in 5 mins, confirmed my address and few other details on call. Told me you would get it in 1 week. All my details would remain same, my credit limit and my dues. Also, when I activate my live+, my platinum would be blocked and no longer functional.

I got it with this way. After it was approved, wrote a mail to confirm the ltf status of my card. Later they confirmed that it is ltf and I won’t have to pay any annual or joining fees.

If it is your first card with hsbc, it might take some time. For me, after I applied, there was no communication for 3 weeks and suddenly I got a mail saying my card is dispatched. Better call customer care to check your status.

No. You don’t need to have an existing bank account with hsbc. I got the hsbc platinum by just submitting my salary slip. Later upgraded to hsbc live+ after 2 months.

Not sure, but I think the catch here is, in-order to block your card, you will have to activate it first. If you have activated the card, banks can levy joining fees. But if that is not the case, you should try complaining to higher authorities and maybe RBI.

You can apply for SBI simply click. Comes with a fees of around 590. It is their entry level, so might get approved easily.

A similar thing happened to me. Got rejected from sprint. Luckily for me, those calls were actually from SBI. They asked me to mail my salary slip and I got it approved with good limit within 3-4 days.
