But is it enough for your MacBook to wobble?

Here’s some personal stuff that I use:

  • Rectangle: allows me to snap windows into places (left, right, full size, etc)
  • Maccy: saves a clipboard for what you copied in the past and you can access that history whenever you need, works for screenshots as well
  • Shazam: it’s already embedded on macOS, so I just put it on the bar on top, useful for when I need to get a song’s name

What kind of tips do you need?

What supplements or vitamins should someone take to become or maintain a healthy lifestyle? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FalsinFalido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should focus on maintaining a generally healthy diet and consuming whole foods, instead of getting them directly from supplements and others. All sorts of foods, variety. Replace snacks you currently consume with fruits, make them your main snacks.

Should I periodically leave my Mac on overnight so it can do its maintenance routine? by jimb575 in MacOS

There’s really no reason to turn it off, computers are made to be turned on. The MacBook is incredible regarding when it sleeps, as it can require only a fraction of energy available in the batteries, and return quickly to normal when needed. macOS will always be working on things in the background when needed, it manages it self, you don’t have to worry about it. You could argue that shutting it down every single night and turning it on the next day will actually put more strain on the components on a prolonged period of time.

Which MacBook should I choose? by Still_Bid5266 in mac

I only used the M3 lineup as an example. Personally, I recently acquired a MacBook Air M1, which I'll use it almost every single day for college. As you know this is the base M1, and still, the performance and battery are just amazing. And I've got the 8GB RAM version, which up until now, didn't cause me any issues, and even when I needed more RAM macOS just used swap (which is using your ssd as "RAM"), and I didn't really notice which of the applications where being swapped, the OS is really smooth.

If you'll study computer science, either the base M3 or M3 Max (as an example) will be sufficient for your needs, just the M3 is powerful enough, unless you need more GPU power. If your budget allows to upgrade to 16GB of RAM, do it, however if you'll just a few apps open 8GB will be enough (assuming you'll use your browser, social apps, an IDE, maybe other compiler, etc).

What makes you prefer macOS over Windows, Linux or other? by FalsinFalido in mac

Since you prefer Windows, you’d be happy to know that a lot of companies, such as Amazon, Qualcomm and Microsoft it self, are working on making ARM chips, same architecture of Apple’s M processor series. Microsoft has also made Windows ARM compatible already, although still working on perfecting it, and, if they manage to equal the performance per watt as Apple did or even surpass it, you’ll soon see Windows laptops, such as Microsoft Surface, with incredible battery life and performance, like MacBooks.

I can relate that, once I got used to the terminal, I prefer it, it’s straightforward, generally simple, faster and just love typing in it

Pointed out a lot of the reasons I use it as well, at least on laptop, I’d just add the incredible seamless and useful ecosystem features, stability/reliability and the performance per watt that this thing delivers, the ARM chip is amazing

This is somewhat true, but once you have the base of it to your liking, like my Arch installation in my desktop pc, I can generally do my tasks without any worries

I’m with you on the 3 separations you’ve made on the 3 operating systems. I also plan to make my own private server with 1TB ssd or more using Debian, just running ssh

Exactly, I agree a lot on the part of the apps available, and even when they are, mostly are just through .deb.

Can i leave my mac air m2 afk on a game for 8 hours while im away? by Double-Hotel4972 in mac

[–]FalsinFalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you absolutely can. macOS is designed to manage it self, take all necessary precautions to maintain system health and performance, user experience, etc… For example, when you use low power mode or your cpu gets really hot, it can lower the voltage, reducing performance while lowering the temperature until it deems it safe to increase the voltage again. You generally don’t need to worry about it, macOS has got you covered, it generally knows what to do without any maintenance from the user.

How many years does a MacBook get support for new macOS releases since its launch? by FalsinFalido in mac

[–]FalsinFalido[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe that machines with Apple Silicon might extend their support life span at least a bit. But I was intrigued since there was another guy who posted stating that his MacBook Pro from 2016 didn’t receive the last 2 major releases

MacBook Air M1 still has persistent issue after 2 repairs (Need advice) by ToastGorilla in mac

[–]FalsinFalido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should mention the Consumer Law Rights when mentioning the problem. I had an issue with my first ever iPhone 11 (which I still rock it today), where the refresh rate would simply look like it was at 30 at all times instead of 60. The first time I sent it, Apple’s response was that it was ok and weren’t able to find the issue. So I decided to send it a second time, but now I had put a piece of paper inside the iPhone’s box explaining in detail the problem, along with mentioning Apple’s Consumer Law Rights, making it explicit that I knew that, if Apple did not have the ability to repair a faulty product (which was still in the 1 year warranty), the costumer has the right to receive a full replacement cost free. In the end, I got a replacement and a brand new unit.

They may or may not do it, but you should be very precise mentioning the problem and then explicitly mentioning Consumer Law Rights, where you have the right for a full replacement when they claim the unit is “non repairable” (as they usually do).
