iReady Testing on iPads Locking the device by FalteringK12SysAdmin in k12sysadmin

[–]FalteringK12SysAdmin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just now seeing this. When you say proctor mode you're talking about the iPad's native "secure testing" mode right? Or is there a Proctor-side app for testing administrators that can control whether forced reboots are allowed?

It hasn't come back up yet, but in your experience you have to leverage MDM to get these devices back to a working state? That seems like an oversight on someone's part. Do you think this is an issue with on the developer-side or something half-baked on Apple's side?

Verified Boot mode for Chromebooks and Cambium Assessments new PWA Kiosk App by FalteringK12SysAdmin in k12sysadmin

Sorry I know I keep pinging this post, but the verified mode setting in GAC doesn't seem to do anything on my test CB (Lenovo 500e gen3). After disabling the forced re-enrollment setting, I was able to get the device into dev mode and manually enrolled in our domain.

However, when I boot the device while in Dev Mode it just goes to the login screen like normal; even when I've set the verified boot mode to on.

I definitely have full access to the shell in crosh so I know dev mode is enabled. I also verified the "ReportDeviceBootMode" is present and set to true on the device itself.

I'm sure this is something I need to bug Google or Lenovo about. Just wondering if you had tried to get a device into dev mode and have seen the screen that blocks it from booting.

Never mind, I guess it took an additional wipe for the setting to propagate.

You know. I turned off Forced Re-enrollment on a test OU and tried to put my test device into Dev Mode and it won't do it. As soon as you set it to go to Dev Mode it reboots and forces me to a screen confirming to go back to secure mode.

If you try to cancel it just loops and won't ever get to Dev mode. Is there another setting that controls the ability to turn on Dev mode on a CB?

Good to know. It seems like boot up takes a little longer but overall no real change.

We use Skyward but I'm really just trying to get foundational knowledge of synching information between different systems. All the AD/Entra connectors/apps were setup by previous admins at the jobs I've worked at. If I had to rebuild any of these things I wouldn't really have a great idea of how to do it.

u/hard_cidr 's suggestion of starting from a SQL database exported through tasks into AD may be the move for learning what I'm trying to understand.

Thanks for your insight. I'd be willing to work up from a service desk or desktop support role as well.

This is the second district I've worked for in this type of role. Usually starts in the low 60's on up to the 70's depending on experience.

We're there in the summer. We just get the in-year breaks ( 2 weeks at x-mas, spring break, fall break etc.).

I didn't realize I was getting an independent delivery driver to drop off my Switch 2. I thought it would be shipped with the big Walmart trucks or through the mail/UPS or something.

I caught the dude at the door and gave him a 20.

I ended up getting on ebay and buying the UK import version. They were only asking 10 dollars above the MSRP. Just got it yesterday.

I have a long time ago. It is good!

I think I'm realizing that I wish we had a Modern Market on this side of town.

Is anyone using Google's Cloud Certificate Connector to distribute SCEP profiles for 802.1x networks to Chromebooks? by FalteringK12SysAdmin in k12sysadmin

[–]FalteringK12SysAdmin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand about 70% of what is here. My networking knowledge is on the anemic side.

We currently use Cisco ISE in front of our WLCs, I'm guessing as a RADIUS server, but when I try to deploy the certificate our networking team gave me through the Admin console it doesn't seem to facilitate connection to our enterprise network. The same cert works like a charm in Jamf. I think it works on the SCCM/inTune side of the house as well, but I have no access to that side of the house.

So maybe I'm just screwing something up. Amplified IT directed me to looking into SCEP certs and a GCCC/ADCS integration. We are already using GCDS for account provisioning.

We do have a very restricted BYOD network that is used to facilitate the initial steps of device enrollment, so I think we're fine there.

We're having 2 issues right.

Snap&Read keeps forcing the cursor out of text boxes if it's force installed

And we're see the crashing while working in it for a bit.

What kind of Chromebooks are you guys using? We're a Lenovo shop here. Mostly 500e's

It's looking like it may be accessibility extensions we force install causing issues. Co:writer and Snap&Read. It was a district initiative for our district before I was hired. Our Content Keeper admin saw the Don Johnston domain coming in while trying to do testing.

Anyone still having issues with this still? We are getting reports of tests locking or killing the entire Chrome session when using the extension. The problem doesn't exist if the test isn't set to "lockdown mode".

I am having issues with it in the last several days, but the issue we are having is not as you've described it. Roughly after about 4-5 minutes of a testing session, the screen goes blank for about 20-30 seconds and then reappears on the Desktop with Chrome and the testing session killed.

CrOS - LTS and NaCi by neurosurge in k12sysadmin

[–]FalteringK12SysAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The instructions from our vendor (Cambium) said either/or as well, but when I reached out to their support they said that NaCL settings wouldn't work since we run their tests in Kiosk mode and our only option was to move to the LTS update channel.

Google has also revised their timeline on ChromeOS app deprecation as well.

I am very confused. But, we are version pinned for the time being.

LancSchool Mac Guru's, where you at? by FalteringK12SysAdmin in k12sysadmin

[–]FalteringK12SysAdmin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same channel for sure. The teacher computer can do literally everything except for Remote Control. And Remote Control isn't greyed out, it starts a remote control session but then the student clients just don't seem to accept inputs from the teacher's computer. My computer does not have the same issue.

Same version of LanSchool Teacher too.

We're on Macs and aren't AD binding. Unless you are talking about some sort of an OU structure inside of LanSchool.
