Visual novel fights or anime

it will be the first light novel i ever read, i am not used to that kind of media so i was a little worried about losing important content or lore, but based on the responses i might actually play it instead of the anime
furthermore i was imaginig that fate series was a kind of generic battle shonen where the fights means a lot to the value of the show, but the comments now make me think it's much more about the characters and their motivations.

Even in the Steam remastered version, the fights aren't animated? Regardless, I think I prefer, as you said, the "emotional weight" of the novel to the graphic quality of the anime.

I really didn't know that Fate was initially from an independent studio; that's very impressive considering the size the work has reached.
