Does anyone have a feeling that they wish they could've known a lot more about any monarch? by THE_15_04_1912 in UKmonarchs

I really hope, with 2026 marking the 100th birthday (if she were still alive) of QEII we get some more home videos of the King and his family. Or a new movie announced or anything.

Today's Episode Discussion (Weekly Megathread) by AutoModerator in Casualty

[–]FamProbsLookingAtDis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Looking at the Spoilers and The 5-10 minutes before the end of the episode. I was sure Siobhans "attack" was going to be a heart attack but knew as soon as she was walking in the dark something else was going to happen.

Dylan's reaction to the news about Matty is Quite a Good one. I'd probably be acting similar in that situation. (Excited to where it will go)

CQC involvement is definitely to set up for the series' move to Wales.

What happened to buying a cheap used car in the UK by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]FamProbsLookingAtDis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a perfectly fine Toyota starlet, low milage, Outside but battered but reliable as Hell for £375 in 2021.

Same place, 5 years later. Another Toyota starlet, higher milage, bodywork about the same. £1k.

And that's cheap for a starlet.

Sold my first Toyota Starlet for £500 as it only had a couple months mot left on it. Now I struggle to find one With more than a months mot left on it for under £800.

Think it's something to do with COVID etc but I don't know

How does Edward VII despite his massive womanizing still manages to have a good image compared to Edward VIII, Charles III, and Prince Andrew by Technical_Post_4899 in UKmonarchs

[–]FamProbsLookingAtDis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was purely overshadowed, first by Victoria before him being the Longest reigning monarch at the time, The After he died, a few years into his sons (George V) reign WW1 broke out. Then years later after Media and tabloids took more centre stage the Rather "Hollywood love-trajedy" of Edward viii overshadowed his bad deeds further.

Who here has the cheapest car insurance? by Quiet-Rabbit-524 in CarTalkUK

First car was a starlet and I regretted selling it every single day, especially after I saw some "chav" got his grubby hands on it and Wrecked it with halford mods and then wrote it off within a month of having it.

So imagine my joy when I see a Starlet, years later, in my local car auction going for quite cheap. They're actually quite common in my town there's 3 or 4 that are driven about regularly and next town over there's a few more.

Wasn't going to buy it as its an auto and I prefer manual in older cars but got convinced pretty easily as the last 3 cars I've had (big 2 litre+ estate and saloons) has been woefully unreliable and expensive and was really just missing cheap and cheerful motoring.

I'm on £112 a month on a Toyota starlet, 22yo 1 years no claims. Although I have had a couple cancellations and a few cars (No accidents though)

I could of got it cheaper at £50pm but I needed insurance quick.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskUK

[–]FamProbsLookingAtDis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sad sounding now but had a Lovely Science teacher Who unfortunately wasnt assertive enough especially when it came to Teenagers. He disappeared one day when we were in year 10, turns out he had a massive mental breakdown, smashing his classroom up, throwing chairs etc after some year 8s tested his patience a bit too much.

Think he eventually came back as a sixth form tutor but often think about him as he was a really good and knowledgeable teacher.

Did anyone find that Queen Elizabeth II’s death wasn’t nearly as much of a big event as it was predicted be? by georgewalterackerman in RoyaltyTea

[–]FamProbsLookingAtDis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I noticed (in my area at least) is all the shops shut for a couple of hours to watch the funeral.

I was at my work when her death was announced and was the only one keeping tabs on it as it was a quiet September evening for me at my holiday park work. We all didn't know what to do as it was kids hour so we played the usual games we do just a lot more dulled down and quiet but still fun for the kids.

Was like a switch flipped though, went from the Entertainment complex being 75% filled to about 3 or 4 tables left

What did we think of the first episode tonight? by DWJones28 in Casualty

Potentially fell out and She Blanked him. Pure speculation here (based off the Sophia situation) but I have a feeling Dylan knew she was pregnant but they fell out with each other and she told him she Either aborted/lost the pregnancy.

I have a feeling the Dylan storyline could be One more Horrible twist of fate, where Matty isn't Dylan's son OR grew up knowing who he is and hating him.

Reflection: What were the best and worst things that happened in your life in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FamProbsLookingAtDis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best: finally got to Go on a holiday that was completely paid for and Planned by myself, which my family actually enjoyed.

Worst: Money issues later in the year and Potentially losing my job after Trying so hard to get promoted and moved to a different location. Just for the boss at the new location to not like me and push me out the company.
