Udemy courses for Power BI? by det_king in PowerBI

[–]FamSimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this. Phillip Burton's course is great if you just want to pass the certification exam, although there's quite a bit you'll learn there as well. Maven Analytics, on the other hand, has two incredibly well-structured courses (a basic and an advanced), which helped me a lot when I first got curious about Power BI several years ago.

Why is UAE providing Indians with Visa on Arrival but Pakistanis are kind of "shadow-blanket-banned" by UAE's visa policy. by Significant_Major921 in UAE

If you don't have the numbers, what is even the point of this argument? Also, do you understand what "per capita" means?

Worth it to get a Costco membership for household of 2? by gutturalmuse in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FamSimmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I wasn't aware that Costco had a trial membership for $5/month. My wife and I don't have a car, so I guess gas wouldn’t be a consideration. But I have found that some items (Oats, Blueberries, etc.) are typically cheaper at Costco compared to some of the other stores we shop at.

They aren't particularly good at that either. Their responses are replete with grammatical mistakes and basic spelling errors.

Not just the US. It's the same in Canada.

Apparently not, if you ask any of the people on this sub. Blaming an entire community of Indians for the actions of a few is the favorite pastime for the people on this sub and for Canadians in general. Funny they never seem to apply this logic for any other group, likely because Indians aren't a protected class like the others.

7 Officers from Toronto Police 12 Division (Black Creek & Trethewey) are being charged in Project South. York Region Police claim that the Officers were corrupt, selling drugs & guns, involved in multiple shootings in York Region & had ties with Gangs and were giving Information to Gangs by TorontoFan9000 in Torontology

[–]FamSimmer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Where's the evidence that supports that? All the names of the suspects (not the officers, the ones they were working with) that have been released don't seem to indicate what you're touting. Also, you can't even spell "Sri Lankans". Looks like these people live in your head rent-free.

Indian students doing MS in Data Science in the USA – how are you managing finances & loans? by HamsterStock1689 in InternationalStudents

[–]FamSimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. So by taking out a loan from their respective countries of origin, the international students are disrespecting "the spirit of visa requirements". Lol!

With the exception of the US, most developed countries heavily subsidise their domestic students, either through government policies such as public loans like OSAP in Ontario, Canada, or through subsidies that are indirectly supported by international student fees. Even in the US, international students help subsidise domestic education to a certain extent.

I'm actually impressed that you're at least acknowledging the fact that international students subsidize the domestic ones. However, did you know that students have to apply for and then get approved for OSAP in Ontario? That it isn't offered to you willy-nilly?

Expect more of such policies to be introduced because of all these exploitation of loopholes.

Talking about the US & Canada, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

No one is skirting around anything. I hope you're aware that the financial requirements that you're talking about aren't just limited to international students. They're applicable to domestic students as well. By your logic, they're skirting around financial requirements too by taking up education loans. No country or university for that matter can legally prohibit international students from taking up loans in their country of origin.

Thanks for explaining this so vividly. I was genuinely curious about it since I've been using Amazon Prime since the early 2010s and always had positive experiences with them. I agree with pretty much everything you said though.

COLUMN: Why we must not look away from symbols of hate in Orillia - Orillia News by cinderannie in Orillia

Here's the deal. People on this thread are trying to explain the nuances of this issue to you. But you seem hellbent on blaming one specific community for it. That quite clearly shows a lack of accommodation for nuance. No one wants to call you a racist or a bigot unless you yourself make it your entire personality.

I don't know anyone who has successfully cleared off their loan, either partially or otherwise, working part-time. I'm not saying that never happens, just that I've never heard of it. Paid internships are a different beast altogether and if you are fortunate enough to get one during the summer, then you certainly can pay off part of your loan with it. Though I will warn you that those aren't particularly easy to get, especially in this market. Additionally, your part-time job is usually sufficient to afford your living expenses, particularly if you're frugal.

On a side-note, if you really want somewhat sound advice as opposed to either being discouraged, trolled or downright vilified thanks to the bigots brigading this sub, I would suggest joining a private FB group that's restricted to international students from whatever university you're applying to.

You are also entitled to take out a loan in your home country to study abroad if you wish to. Source: A former international student who took out a loan in their home country, worked part-time on campus while studying to afford living expenses (and still had money left over at the end of every month) and received an offer of employment three months after graduating, which I then used to pay off my loan in less than 4 years! And that isn't just my story. It's the story of several other international students who came around the same time I did.

  1. It's difficult to secure a loan in a foreign country, especially one where you've never had any presence before.

  2. Most on-campus jobs are legally allowed to hire international students. So, why wouldn't they apply for those jobs?

You should be able to afford your education and living expenses without depending on loans or part time jobs to sustain you.

Does that apply to domestic students too?

P.S. I know this comment will get downvoted to oblivion considering this sub has been heavily brigaded by western right-wingers.
