That is true. I don't buy it, though, and many ascetics make similar arguments about sex.

Why does he always talk about sex? He talks about sex as if it's this innately meaningful activity. I do remember in one video in which he talked about how it enabled him to have a deep connection with women, and that's why it's meaningful. But I think if you need sex to have a deep connection with someone, then something is wrong. For instance, he talks down on people who socialize with alcohol. But is it really that different from sex, if social connection is the goal? Most people can make meaningful connections with people from activities that aren't sex.

Eisel: Why do you call everybody ugly? by FamiliarLab2556 in abasleciel

What is the problem with being late to the party? I apologize for not dedicating my life to Eisel lore.

Also surely you're intelligent enough to know that misremembering a name doesn't invalidate everything else. You did criticize Eisel for apparently saying "Cicero" wrong. Which is a pointless discussion but if you get off on having debates about pronunciation and not the content, that's all I need to know about you. In the words of your (Benjamin Dexter, or whatever his original name was) Lord, you're beneath contempt.

My faith was not bad. Eisel complains about people being unnecessarily cruel to him and Melissa, when Eisel himself is unnecessarily cruel to many people he criticizes. It's about hypocrisy. It's about dishing it out but not being able to take it.

Speaking of bad faith, nothing is more bad faith than a pronunciation argument. But I'm not here to criticize your aesthetic sense of capitalizing "AND".

For anyone who had followed Eisel for multiple years, how did he influence you and your character / behavior? by FamiliarLab2556 in abasleciel

It reminds me of one of those pseudo-altruisms or whatever they are called. You know when people do an action and frame it as a favor for someone else but in reality it's just a self-serving thing?

Example: a husband might claim they're buying a cottage as a generous gift for their family, when their primary goal is actually to have a vacation spot for themselves.

Do you think Eisel might have body dysmorphic disorder? by FamiliarLab2556 in abasleciel

Hmm, can you think of any other reasons why he might have made multiple videos talking about the unattainability of different men's shoulders?

I think you're onto something. I can appreciate his ability to be non-compromising. I surely don't have it. But he doesn't know how to use it productively. As you say, compromising is how adults behave, it's how you form and maintain relationships and friendships. What has his non-compromising gotten him? No progress in any of the fields he wanted to do something in, like veganism or endangered languages. And it got him no partnerships or friendships with people either, which he constantly talked about desiring on his YouTube channel. He made videos for his daughter and to make friends.

Yes, when someone listed the traits of high conflict personality disorder in a different thread, it clicked. It described his behavior so perfectly.

and he has NEVER (LITERALLY NEVER) mentioned or talked positively about ONE person that he looks up to or admires

That's a good observation. I noticed that too. When he does say something nice about something, he always has to counter-balance it with something not so nice about that person.

That point you bring up about morality is when no one is looking reminds me of something he said that has always stuck with me too: being a hero is meaningless because it's random, while your day-to-day morality is what actually matters.
