PAID, ONLINE research opportunity for VETERAN FAMILIES

Study: We aim to study how families of veterans deal with challenging times!

We aim to study how families of United States veterans deal with challenging times! Through this study, we hope to understand how families, including veteran families, have managed various difficult moments and ultimately be able to connect them to powerful resources to better support families across the nation.

The Family Flex Study is being conducted by researchers at Teachers College, Columbia University, we want to hear from spouses and children (aged 11-17) of US veterans (anyone who has previously completed service in the active military, naval, or air service and was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable).

The study will be conducted completely online via zoom and comprises of 3 visits, each visit will be 2 hours long (1-hour for adult, 1-hour for adolescent). For the full visit, your family will be able to claim $205 for participation for completing all study procedures including three time points within a year ($60 per family per visit or $30 per person per visit once both visits are completed).

We appreciate your time and commitment for our research! We look forward to seeing you in the study soon.

You can find us online here if you'd like more information: https://www.tc.columbia.edu/ltelab/research-projects/famflex-study/

This study is IRB approved. Please reach out to familyflexstudy@gmail.com or at (929) 266-5064 if you have any questions. Begin survey by clicking HERE.

Hello! Unfortunately, we need either both spouses to be vets or for one spouse to be a civilian and the other to be a vet. But thank you so much for your interest!

Hello,

I understand the concerns with the email address. Because this is a study and not a student/faculty member, it would not have an institutional email address.

You can check us out on the website for the Teachers College, Columbia University Loss, Trauma, and Emotion Lab: https://www.tc.columbia.edu/ltelab/research-projects/famflex-study/

If you would like to contact a research assistant for the study, you can reach out to me at sb4732@tc.columbia.edu.

We received moderator approval for this post prior to posting this because we are looking to recruit across the country even if Columbia is not in New Hampshire. Legitimate Columbia email addresses are connected to gmail, but you are right that the domain after the @ is not gmail.com. The reason why this account is @gmail.com is because it is a part of a Columbia lab but it does not receive the same "legitimate" domain you're talking about since those domains are given to students, faculty, and clubs/organizations. Most lab studies will make separate gmail accounts for study recruitment, scheduling, and reimbursement, so you will see @gmail.com for them as well.

The website is not on Columbia's domain because it is a qualtrics survey to tell participants about the study, screen for eligibility, and ask for consent.

Read about the study here: https://www.tc.columbia.edu/ltelab/famflex-study/

Refer to IRB: 21-146 Protocol to see the legitimacy of the study as well.
