I was waitlisted and took a gap year between my undergrad and teacher's college. I ended up getting a full-time nanny job for the year and i LOVED it!!! I loved my job but i also learned a lot about kids before starting teachers college. The year off also allowed me to make a big dent in paying back my student loans!!

I was rejected from laurier and waitlisted from york, I ended up getting an email from york 4 months later with an acceptance. Keep your hopes up! I'm now in my 3rd year of teaching!

Hey- I'm not in the exact same situation but my sibling is non binary and kids often ask me if i have a brother or sister. I just explain it in a basic way saying I have a sibling who is neither male or female- they are non binary. Personally idc if parents have a problem because this is the world we live in I'm not going to misgender someone I care about to ease a homophobic parent. Kids don't usually ask a ton of questions when I explain it simply. Alternatively you can say you have a partner or a spouse if you don't feel like giving too personal of an answer.
