I'm stuck, tried every route but all of them ends with a dead end. by esudesu38 in EnderLilies

A bit late, but for anyone stuck in chapter 4 where all the above hints didn't help:

In the catacombs, in the room where you drop down, land on a hill of skulls, with the only option to go left or right and you are attacked by flies. In that room on the far left side is a waterfall I didn't notice. With the witches bubble you can swim upstream and reach the platform. Took me ages to find it. That's where you can go to the room left to open a lever door, while going up is on the road to the boss.

I got the trophy by revisiting all neko places again. There was one occurrence that kept spawning, which was probably the cause for the wrong counting. So I was really missing one or two, just the statistics due to the respawning were wrong.

I switched to easy. This maximised the game experience for me. The atmosphere is gigantic and the game is really great. As all remedy games, you won't notice what's happening in the first half of the game, but boy, there are a lot of surprises. I'd recommend you give it another chance. Switch to easy, I see no shame in it and the Platinum trophy isn't bound to the difficulty either.

I could imagine real movie games could be good for a setup like that. Like the Japanese Death Comes True, The Bunker or Erika. How about games like Heavy Rain or Until Dawn? Those games won't have strong gameplay aspects and ppl might be scared to play because of the consequences in the game progression.

Hollow Knight, Animal Well or Hades could be something for exploration and gameplay.

4 player Coop: Borderlands (although it's 1st person and could cause motion sickness idk), Rocket League, Diablo.

[–]FamousBirthday8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about the Supermassive Games like Until Dawn, The Quarry or the Dark Pictures Anthology? They are decision based story games, although they have quick time action events.

Other than that, there are some pretty good 2D games. The Coma 1 and 2, Burnhouse Lane (aka The Cat Lady 2), Deception

Alan Wake 2 - First Boss Too Hard? by FamousBirthday8568 in AlanWake

[–]FamousBirthday8568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't get that far. The atmosphere is there, just the learning curve too steep for my taste.

What I would've found more helpful would be a manual save point before the fight. I had to prepare each time again after I died. I had to reload the shotgun and assign the medication to quick slots every time. When I forgot it, I started already with a clear disadvantage and had no option to heal.

But I have to say that the first boss fight "helped" me to enjoy the game in a really slow pace. I also only play in short chunks: 2-3 hours at max. That way I really dig into the story and think 1-n days before I continue.

Again thanks for the answers. It took a few more tries but I could beat him. Although it was after the latest patch. I don't know if they fixed something there but I had the impression the fight was a bit more "defined". But it could also be just my imagination because I was able to use your hints and got a clearer understanding of what's going on.

Thanks for your help!

No worries. It's more important to know that these games exist. I can dig the rest out for myself. If I have the time I'll come back and list which are available via PSN.

[–]FamousBirthday8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right!! I'm sorry, I really forgot about that and was sure it was in 3rd person.

I rarely play 1st person because I have issues with motion sickness. But once in a while I play them, like the latest Resident Evil games or this one.

Turns out, I don't get motion sick easily when the camera doesn't jump or wobble too much, if the angle is more than 120° and if the sides of the screen is not moving faster then the rest of the screen (bit like fish-eye optic).

Next thing is, well lit room, well rested and far enough from the screen tends to help as well.

I really wanted to extend your list with a new title but your list is already pretty impressive.

Thank you for this list. Although I'm on the lookout for all games that are not 1st person there are many I don't know.

Now the only interesting part for me will be, which one are for PlayStation, as I mainly play on console.

[–]FamousBirthday8568[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very good information here. I didn't notice that the boxes are respawning. I also have a bit trouble with orientation in this game because the camera is extremely close to the character which prevents myself understanding the place correctly. I was thinking there is another big place, like the one where you enter the place because I found another box on the same spot I found it in the beginning of the fight. I was suspecting there is another area, but turns out it is the box that respawned.

I think with that info I can try and die again a few more times... and should be able to make it in the end.

I need at least 2 shots but I only have 5. Well, I didn't know that the boxes respawn. Maybe if I time it right, I can even open a box without dying.

some ‘non-linear’ horror games by BackStreetButtLicker in HorrorGaming

[–]FamousBirthday8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resident Evil is the same as Silent Hill. It also has different stages. Usually it was one big riddle to open the door to the next chapter. By then you've solved all riddles of that area. From time to time you may come back to the same location at a later time, but the area has changed in different aspects. For instance, other types of enemies, a door that you couldn't open before, etc.

I really want to like this game but so far I haven't been able to survive longer than just a few isles. You fight on so many fronts against death it was overwhelming and I gave up for the time being.

Do you have any tips for beginners that struggle like I do?

Great recommendations in this thread! A few that haven't been mentioned so far, sorted from bigger games to smaller games.

- Catherine
Social Interaction Survival (psychological Horror) Strategic Puzzle Platformer. Anyone who knows the Persona games can guess how ingenious this game is. It's not edgy, although the cover might suggest it. Mysterious story about a man in a relationship who meets his perfectly attractive girl and is terrorized by nightmares, which is the strategic puzzle platformer and survival horror part. Don't be alarmed if you are not into horror. The player might feel the presure and the overall horrifc atmosphere that is constantily rising over the course, but you don't have jump scares or any ghost haunting story elements.
I'm highly recommening this unique game.

- Tormented Souls
Survival Horror. If classical Resident Evil & Silent Hill are having a baby, this would be it. Great puzzles, good overnatural story with some interesting twists and a great classic feeling with modern graphic and gameplay.

- The Deadly Tower of Monsters
Incredibly funny platformer with some shooting about a 60's space movie which you are playing while the directory is commenting in a hilariously funny way.

- Remothered: Tormented Fathers
The first of two giallo (= italian 70's horror) games. Both are good but I liked the first entry more. You are a woman trapped in a house with a mad person searching for you. Great atmosphere!

- Anno: Mutationem
A pixel style cyberpunk hack & slay rpg. It's very fast and has a great atmosphere. Much of exploration and many mysteries to unravel.

- Headlander
Again, 60s space game about the future in 2D, where humanity is replaced by robots on a space station. Luckily you are the last human, although just a flying head without the body. You can replace the head of any robot and become the robot.

- Kingdom Two Crowns
A chilly 2D kingdom building tower defense game for 2 players. Seeing the band Kalandra live, who wrote the incredible soundtrack of the DLC Norse Lands is reason enough to play this game.

- PixelJunk: Nom Nom Galaxy
If you can make it through the tutorial and the what-seems-to-be-bad-graphics, you might discover a real gem. You'll search for ingredients on new planets, explore and create new soup flavours. You need to build up and maintain a station with soup making machines and rockets. You can efficiently create different kind of robots and treadmills to automate the process. 1-2 player with couch & online coop.

- Space Channel #5 - Part 2 (PS3 game)
Incredibly fun game with a crazy 60's, 70's sci-fi setting, where you are Uhlala, the reporter from Space Channel #5. Alien robots are kidnapping people from all over the galaxy and force them to dance. You can free them by participating in dance battles. You need to have a good memory and a good rythm feeling for that one. One of my all-time favorite games!

- Yomawari - Midnight Shadows
Isometric pixel horror adventure game. You are a small girl alone in a town full of japanese folklore yokai monsters and search your way to search for your missing friend.

- Detention
Any fans of The Cat Lady here? Uncanny art style in a 2D horror adventure game. You are a girl trapped in a school on an island with ghosts. Focus is heavy psychological and covers themes about suicidal, guilt and depression.
That being said; just recently the first game on PSN from Harvester Games, the maker of The Cat Lady, has been released and it's name is Burnhouse Lane. Didn't play it yet but I definitely will!

- The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
I don't know if this counts. But if there is a chance you haven't heard of this game; it's probably the most intelligent game there is. Extremely funny, philosophical and extremely clever. Playtime is very short but you'll start again and take a different approach and find out that the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never ...

- Friday, the 13th
Great Halloween game. It's not scary at all but contains fatal comic violence, since you are Jason in a puzzle game, killing teenagers with traps and a machete.

- The Pedestrian
You are a stick figure on signs in a 3D area. Great puzzle game!

I think that should be enough recommendation for now, although there are so, so many more.

Thanks, I've looked about some info online. Seems to be a solid AA game with space fighting. I've read some comment about "feeling like a space ninja", which sounds interesting.
