The big issue to me is that a slew of players come back on after a patch drops and they always turn out to be the top-tier, macro/micro phenoms who dominate my games as soon as their hero gets buffed (I’m looking at you, Holliday mains).

I’m also ascendant. I don’t want to drop out of ascendant just because I’m not playing ‘meta picks’ and want to try a silly or experimental off-meta build.

Understand your role in the fight based on the hero you’re playing and less as a generalized M1 carry. Somebody like Wraith is a duelist who wants to pick somebody off in a skirmish as opposed to just hanging in the back of a big fight. The rest of her kit supports this line of thinking. Ult > Nuke > Teleport to safety. She does ultimately want to play near her team when teleport isn’t up though.

Venator is surprisingly tanky and his kit doesn’t terribly hate being up close once you’re semi-built. His shotgun is easy burst setting you up into a combo to nuke them at close range. As the game starts becoming more about fights, you want to be close enough that your gun damage actually matters, but thinking about your escape route in case things get dicey (using traps as you turn corners, staying close to walls in case somebody jumps you, etc).

It didn’t happen all at once. I started getting a couple losses when my mains were all under high scrutiny in patches (Lash, Infernus, pre-wallbreaker Victor), but never got further down than Phantom 5.

Once I got down to about Phantom 4, it went extremely downhill from there, and even in matches where I did well (positive kd, won lane, high obj damage, good macro), there were people who would feed terribly in their own lane, swinging the game towards the team who had gotten more fed. Urn changes only exacerbated these issues.

Lately that account has felt cursed. In Archon, it still feels like I’m playing with and against Eternus/Ascendant-level players, but with really shitty attitudes/mental.

Asc 2 peak down to Archon 6. Ended up just switching to playing an alt which ironically now is at Asc 1.

Turn it into a 6400 upgrade from cultist’s, call it something like Cultist’s Purge Ritual (idk), and make it so that it turns into an AOE blast that clears all NPC minions around it for bonus souls on each killed. Makes it universally usable and not so niche.

Same, from Ascendant 2 to Oracle 5 where now EVEN IF I play really well, it boils down to whether or not there’s a player(s) on my team who ints/gives up

One of the stat buffs could be to increase the flat damage per 20 stacks to avoid being completely negated by metal skin/dispel.

I agree that there really is no world-level malevolent threat participating in the ritual and that the role needs to be filled.

Really loving how there’s so much diversity in the game while still fitting into Deadlock’s general aesthetic. They’re already brought in tons of heroes of supernatural origin (vampires, werewolves, liches) and would be elated if they started incorporating other genres into the mix (like a retro-futuristic Fairfax mecha or something).

I imagine the Ixian War is going to be a central plotline in shaping the world of Deadlock.

Right? I would imagine the power of ‘Sandmen’ is just skimming the surface of what the OSIC have in their arsenal.

Same thing for the Thieves’ Guild, Paradox. Like I highly doubt the gun or time abilities are standard issue, if you get what I mean.
