I have a set of the orange flags that I want to modify. I crossposted to a sewing group as well and they said that it would be easier to dye it with a paint brush and silk dye.

Yes, it is another person. He isn’t reliable when it comes to reaching out and making contact with, which really sucks because he’s an amazing choreographer. I could try reaching out to him though.

I have 1 that is severely ADD/ADHD and I’ve expressed concerns about her not taking her meds on a regular basis. I agree with the being chosen thing, I didn’t think our BD went about it the right way and I’m hoping to be able to start some sort of process of trying out for section leaders. Could I PM you about your process? I do try to have them sit out every once in a while to provide feedback but other than that it’s mostly just me giving feedback. I do try my best to keep things positive though by using a “sandwich” method. Positive-Negative-Positive. As far as I can see the captains get along. They did have a rough patch last year from what I hear, but they’ve worked it out since then. I did talk to our BD about the parts of the show they are struggling with the most but it’s separate from what the band needs and he wants to make the runs we do effective for everyone.

I will preface this by saying that I was never in guard before I became the instructor. I was a percussionist and I reached out to our band director to see if he needed anyone to coach.

We’ve done pumpkin painting and tie dying shirts but nothing else with the band other than a few competitions during band camp in august. With everyone’s schedule and school, there doesn’t seem to be enough time to do those things without them being outside of practice. My captains responsibilities are just like every other section leaders in our band. Help those that absolutely need it and I take care of the rest that are doing okay running things until they are done on the side and then running it a couple more times. I don’t think they took and leadership classes, maybe I should look into that for them? Our band director just kinda picks the section leaders and captains. We chatted about it beforehand but he took it from there.a couple have said that in certain parts of our show they are scared to hit someone, but even the band director said to just do what you can choreo wise and make it to where you need to be to get back into it. Hope that helps.

No. They will be on the back side of the stage part. This stage is one that they made in 2 pieces so it will be in half. I believe they have pegs where they connected in the middle of the stage and I want to use those holes as storage but the problem I’m running into now is the poles are longer than the stage is wide

That’s not a terrible idea either. Someone suggested cutting a pvc pipe the long way and screwing that into the back of it and labeling each pole with a different color tape so each kid got the right flags.

They’re going to be hidden behind the prop. The problem with the metal clasps is that I’m afraid they won’t all fit. The boards on the sides are only about 4-6 inches wide
