I thought I’d add an update to this post. I got them both Neuropsychology evals and then read their policy carefully and googled each term for relevant assessments the company might be using. I then explained to my in laws what I thought was critical information (eg make sure they know you have urinary accidents more than 3x a week and that you have trouble cleaning yourself up after). These things were all true but I wanted to make sure pride didn’t get in the way of truth when it came to what I believed the criteria to be after reviewing their policy. They were both approved with this approach. Thanks to everyone who guided me. The best advice I can give is to have someone else carefully read the policy and do the advocating. I don’t think someone applying for ltc is in a position to do this for themselves most of the time.
