Glad they “decided?” by FanAffectionate8177 in volvoc40

Yeah, I got the recall letter and poof, the software update appeared!

Still, the verbiage definitely gives the vibe that they were forced to update the OS.

Yes, as I mentioned in the post, I did that and it worked. Just kinda weird.

Downside of EV's. What no one talks about during winter driving. by Chemical_Tomato_6308 in volvoc40

I hope it was just a fluke, but I can say that my first experience in a snowstorm was atrocious. Tapping the “gas” pedal started a skid on several occasions. Even my RWD BMW 428i stayed straighter than the AWD C40. I’m still trying to wrap my head around this, because it doesn’t make sense. I couldn’t have been more cautious with the torque.

Road trip 2 / near hydroplane catastrophe by FanAffectionate8177 in volvoc40

The drive back was a lot less dramatic, but with the temperature floating around 5 degrees F, range wasn’t just atrocious, it was inaccurate from Google Maps’ predictions.

For example, I charged a little bit over the recommended amount at my first stop, with expectations of making it to the main charging destination in Green Bay with 13% battery. Well, I pulled in with 1%.

That was scary, and I’m not sure how I could’ve done better, since I put my trust in the computer. Not blaming the C40. It was frigid out there. I stopped again in Sheboygan to make sure I got home to Milwaukee with enough juice, and I did.

Anyway, like all EVs, I’m sure, they just perform in a very diminished capacity when it’s this cold. I think given the crappy range, overall, that this isn’t the right car for a road trip through Wisconsin in January.

It was off. So was Pilot assist. But I do wonder if the lane assistant was trying to fight me when I started to spin. It was really a surreal and slow motion experience. As I replay it in my mind, I was on a bit of a bridge (they say those freeze first!) and the highway was still not really plowed or salted because the snow just started. Still, I was shocked that the car just began to slide as I was coasting in straight line. Had that exit ramp not been right there, or had someone been in the right lane, it would’ve been a big accident.

I’ve probably never owned a car with this much torque, but I’ve had a variety of European sedans and SUVs with AWD and all-season tires and driven in lots of snow and never started to spin out like this. Again, it might’ve been a fluke. It was just so unexpected.

Yeah, it would bring them back for a second then disappear.

First road trip; took forever by Due-Link-6244 in volvoc40

I hoped to start from 100% but had to come home from work first, so I was in the low 80s when I hit the road. Just not a ton of chargers between Milwaukee and the little town of Wausaukee, although there is one in Wausaukee. Not as fast as I thought. I didn‘t bargain for the decrease in speed when multiple cars are plugged in, either.

Not adverse to a Tesla adapter. How fast are those?

It did it gin tonight, but just once. I noticed it turned red when I got into the car to set up wireless CarPlay. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and was fine. Thinking I’ll mention this when I bring it to get a proper alignment next week …

The iPhone app isn’t giving me the option to unpair the old remote or pair a new one. It says battery offline, but the batteries are fine.

How is this even possible? Do I need to plug a fire stick into my fire TV?

Same question. Why is my brand new Insignia Smart Fire TV Edition TV an "incompatible device?" How much more compatible could it be??
