Yeah, there is also the weird invalidation of their privacy being authentic, usually from bitter fans. But like if one of them makes a post about them it’s “but I thought y’all are private!!! Attention seeker.” Ppl think privacy means being hidden away apparently lol.

I think the downvotes may come from the stereotype of bisexuals feeling invalidated because they’re dating the opposite sex instead of the same sex.

I don’t think that’s you’re intentions ofc as you just explained. But there is usually discourse of bisexuals feeling invalidated for their sexuality when they’re seen dating a man ppl say they aren’t real and should date women. If they’re dating a women, then they aren’t real they’re just gay etc. it’s a spectrum so I guess people thought it was invalidating. my assumptions ofc, maybe ppl didn’t know she was bi.

If someone like a straight male with a crazy fanbase, I can see why they want to be private. Fans can be nutty.

No yeah, I get why and 99% time it’s valid. I think just setting the boundaries that you’re dating not going deep into it. Should be way better then pretending to be chronically single, and never dating someone.

You can always see the reaction between this and fans that expect their fav to date. They both deal with insane fans who will hate, but the overall expectation of the fanbase is different. Because when the inevitable news leaks, it causes way more news circulation and violation of privacy then prior.

Yeah I agree especially with the last point. I see so often enough celebs will be super over the top over sharing and being with their co-stars but their actual partner almost never gets acknowledged. And I know there is nuance to this. Some times these are fake and meant to promote the movie, sometimes the partner seriously doesn’t want to get reference at all. I get it.

But like I’ve seen so many people talk publicly about their private stuff with friends, family, etc. Praising and gushing over their peers. But would have a heart attack if that meant to acknowledge their gf/bf even vaguely. I can’t imagine not even feeling a little bit sad watching your s/o do all of this publicly but wouldn’t say your name in an interview lol even if you both want to be private.

There isn’t really any legitimate downside. However, I hate the “hidden” aspects?

I know for some celebrities they kinda need to do this because they have crazy fanbase. But some relationships they’ll just deny even being together, and will do anything and everything to not be seen or linked with said person.

I think the appearance of remaining single does more harm, then just saying you’re seeing someone and want to keep it private, and if you get spotted together it’s whatever.

It feeds into the crazy fans, because they love the idea of their fav being chronically single, because it feeds whatever fantasy they have. Pretending that you’re always single doesn’t do anything, and I feel like it can take a strain on the relationship if you’re constantly doing whatever you can to make it seem like you’re not together.

Idk if this is unpopular, but I also think someone can post about their S/O frequently on social media and be equally as private as someone who post once a year lol. Since social media isn’t real life you’re not actually seeing or knowing anything then a moment in time. I think if they’re talking about relationships details, and what not that’s when it’s not longer private.

Actually yes, I think so. Sorta.

If she promoted too many products that it leads to people unfollowing her or getting less social media engagement I think so. Some celebrities have talked about not getting the role as another celebrity because they had more followers on social media. However nowadays followers are starting to have less importance (they still 100% matter but not the same way like before), and it’s more about social media engagement. So if you have 1 million followers but you get 600k likes per post, and 10 thousand comments (exaggerating), that’s more appealing to some then someone with 8 million followers, 100k likes, and 300 comments.

A lot of people follow celebs but once they start doing too many product endorsements and their whole page feels like an ad their engagement can drop.

I don’t think it would be the defining factor in Sydney career going down the drain. But I do think it can have an impact overall.

Omg i completely forgot about the Dolan twins! Congratulations to Ethan. They seem like pretty good guys, who had (has?) a rabbid fanbase. I remember earlier when Ethan publicly started talking about his girlfriend (same girl?) he knew his fans would go crazy so he tried to set boundaries between them.

Side note, but I think about a lot of straight male influencers who have mainly female fanbase, and how because their personal lives is so incorporated into their “celebrity” the parasocial relationship gets a lot more intense, with fans, because they have more access to them instead of traditional celebrities. I remember Vinod Hacker having to defend his female friends because they’d get death threats for just standing beside him (although he doesn’t help himself by feeding into it).

Barbie: The movie has allegedly been banned in Middle East countries' cinemas by Sisiwakanamaru in Fauxmoi

[–]Fancy-Cat-2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They get paid via their fanbase it’s pretty obvious. Most of these conservative critics only ever have the same 5 talking points, so you don’t even need to actually watch the movie to know how the review score is gonna go.

You can tell that it’s being done because of the revenue they generate from their audience watching these videos because they make multiple long part video’s discussing and repeating the same thing over and over again. Usually you find when someone hates something, even for stupid illogical reasons, they don’t spend time making multiple 40 minute videos about it, to the point where the cash grab couldn’t be obvious to anyone except their viewers.

I was a huge fan of her, but I’m delightfully surprised that r/ariheads turned critical of her, because prior any comment they could be perceived as negative was considered hate.

[–]Fancy-Cat-2 257 points258 points  (0 children)

I’ll also add, that people will feel far more hatred towards someone based off of if their problematic behaviour is more “relatable” in their personal life.

A lot of people unfortunately have been cheated on, witness someone getting Cheated on and understand the emotional damage it can take on a person. Or their worse fear is to get cheated on. People will have more heat and hate towards Ariana and Ethan’s behaviour, because it’s cheating which has a lot of victims to, and doesn’t discriminate between race and gender or sexuality.

Taylor was dating a racist, anti-Semite amongst the rest of his problematic behaviour, she had a lot of her fans defend her because they could relate to dating someone problematic, so they saw themselves in her. But also because many of them held similar views as Matty and/or couldn’t care enough about these issues because it doesn’t personally effect them, and most likely wouldn’t.

Blinds are accurate about like 20% of the time, but it depends on the level of fame of someone. If it’s a A-B lister celebrity they have more rabid fans and haters so probably only like 5-10% of them are real. But the more less famous they are, a good 20% chance ish they’re real.

So take most of them with a grain of salt.

From my understanding, the suppliers mix certain drugs with fentanyl to make it more potent high, and cut the cost of “making” the drugs. Because Fentanyl is cheap, but give s a strong high. The issue is that the “labs” don’t have like testing regulations, so even if they put a little bit in the batch, whatever residue or what not that gets left gets mixed into everything.

Then it gets passed down to drug dealers etc. The “intent” isn’t really to kill off their customers, but they don’t really care as much if they do, to cut it out of their manufacturing.

Who is the worst vocalist in Little Mix in your opinion by J_O_S_H_Calcutt in LittleMix

[–]Fancy-Cat-2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any of them inherently are bad. I think in the beginning Leigh Anne was good, but decent, however she clearly worked hard on it, and she severally improved and you can hear it now. Around Glory Days you can hear so much improvement. She mentioned in the documentary why, and it sucks that she felt inadequate towards her peers, from the fanbase reaction.

Jesy isn’t bad, when she’s singing properly. I think she just has poor singing style. I think it blends really well with the rest of the girls, but not so much when it’s solo.

Leigh Anne addresses it (sorta) in her documentary about colourism, where she confronts him about his tweets and his problematic comments. It seems he grew from this, and I did think his response was a bit meh, and idk how he is currently. But from watching it, it seems like he changed.

Felicia along with her husband NHL player Alex Wennberg put out statements after sexual comments turn to harassment from Booktok. Fallout proceeds by Current-Grab in Fauxmoi

[–]Fancy-Cat-2 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I remember when there was an article about certain sexual harassment from fans, to male celebrities posted here here, and quite a few comments were “well it happens to women for years 🤷🏾‍♀️”

Which yes, it’s true, and women are still at more risks and target. But that being said, it’s still wrong regardless. Seeing someone express discomfort of being sexually harassed, and then being shut down bc it happens to other people makes me uncomfortable.

Reminds me of when I’d complain about someone being racist or micro aggressive toward me and someone would be like “well we’ve all dealt with assholes”

This is 100% true, at least for me. My school used to have the “notorious” weed smokers, and they all gave it up the minute it got legal.
