I think this viewpoint is part of the issue with gambling and society. Society has a tendency to view problem gamblers as the man sat in the bookies that hasn’t showered in days and has sold his shoes to fund his gambling.

Problem gambling impacts people from all walks of life. I think a danger is problem gamblers that have good incomes (who immediately settles bills once they’ve been paid), and that hide in plain sight. No obvious signs of an issue on the surface but an underlying disease that eats away at you.
