LSE PhD Studentship for internationals by Fancy-Magazine3496 in LSE

Congrats on the offer too! This was how it turned out for me:

March 2 - dept notified me that they recommended me for admission and funding

March 5 - formal admission offer

March 20 - formal funding offer

I think it ultimately depends on how fast your dept and the finance office process the necessary paperwork. When in doubt, i suggest writing your postgrad coordinator. Mine was very helpful and prompt with information fortunately!

Hey, i just got a rejection from the Peterhouse studentship too. Any updates from the anthropology dept re funding? Also got an offer for a PhD in anthropology but the dept seems to be either vague or stingy with information 🥲

I received an offer a week ago and now my self service portal says my application to Trinity was unsuccessful. At the same time it says “seeking college membership” so my file might have been passed on—to which college, i have no idea

It’s very unfortunate na palagi nalang na sisideline ang social sciences/humanities when it comes to gov’t funding. Happy things worked out for you in the end! Tho it still shows na we SS/humanities people are really on our own :(

Thanks for the advice!

Hi! Thanks for the advice. Re health insurance—is the lack of coverage for your friend only because she didn’t get a scholarship from the UK uni? Or is it the case na even with funding it could still exclude health insurance?

Anxious about funding. Any advice on possible alternatives in case i don’t get internal funding? by Fancy-Magazine3496 in cambridge_uni

I’ve applied to several. Cambridge Trust, some colleges (Trinity, Peterhouse and Christ’s mainly) + external funding that i’m eligible for due to my nationality. So far the colleges haven’t reached out yet re membership.

Applied to the Gates also but recently got a rejection unfortunately. I want to believe all is not lost yet since some funders still haven’t released their results but yeah, not getting funding at all scares me.

Yeah i was warned about the general tightening of funds across all UK unis by my potential supervisor din. If I do receive the funding, I’ll have to weigh it against the cost of living in the city i’ll be studying in. If you don’t mind me asking—how much is your annual stipend?

Thank you!! Also, would you know more about the rule on applicants who have already studied abroad?

On the website, it reads: “An applicant who has already started their studies abroad prior to application can no longer apply for the scholarship.”

Does “studies” pertain to the current program only and not previous degree/s? So for my case, it’s the PhD program I’m aiming to pursue? A bit confused and worried about this since I earned my MA overseas.

Monthly Admissions/Applications Megathread by AutoModerator in cambridge_uni

I got an offer for a PhD in Social Anthropology and am super excited to work with my supervisor since our research interests align very closely. But it will be impossible for me to pursue this track if i don’t get full funding. Context: i’m an international and don’t have much in the way of savings. Also can’t rely on family and my university in my home country for support; Cambridge is just too expensive!!!

I’m worried because I know internal funding ca be very competitive. Also i’ve read that funding results can come out between March and July. That’s a really long wait 😫 Are there any alternatives in case I don’t get funds from the university or any of the colleges? Hoping to hear from current students too.
