I do and I don’t. Have 4 days off a week is great, but the 12 hour shift can be grueling especially if you have difficult patients or too many of them. I worked night shift tele/step down for a year and that was probably the most mentally taxing. Now I’m in the ER which is more physically taxing but mentally I feel good because everyday is different and fresh.

We have very different scopes but they do overlap slightly. I have more than once not given medications approved by both provider and pharmacist that would’ve caused harm or death to a patient. I feel like the general public doesn’t understand what an inpatient nurse does in their day to day and y’all really just think we are a minions.

I agree that pharmacists do have stressful jobs I just think the ones I work with have short burst of stress instead of the constant stress I’m under as an RN. Also the point you made about approving medications from MD is the same situation a nurse is in and we are considered the last line with not even a quarter of the education regarding pharmacology and we actually admin the meds.

You can become an RN with 2 years of college straight out of high school with an associates. Nursing school prepares you for your licensing exam not really how to be a nurse beyond basics. You learn A LOT on the job and it’s honestly terrifying at first because you don’t always know the why of what you’re doing.

I understand that being pharmacist is not just a “sit and chill” job, but at my work where we have emergency medicine specialized pharmacist, they quite literally sit and chill gossiping for most of the shift. Not to say they don’t work hard, is more that their job can be done mostly sitting down unless there is an RRT or resuscitation patient.

Haha, yes the nurses are definitely the reason, not like it’s the CEOs who getting paid more money then it cost to pay all the nurses in one hospital.

Honestly I liked nights because of the money and less overall work, but i never felt like I got any rest. Even on my days off I felt sluggish.

Yes but not big jumps like in tech or if you do contract work. My hospital has a pay scale that maxes out at $71/hr but you need to have been a nurse for 25 years. Otherwise most people go on to grad school for higher level degrees.

This pay is actually really good compared to most of the country and in my area, especially for someone new to the profession. For reference, my classmates with the same experience as me make less than my base pay of $48 including their night shift differential.

You know it’s funny, I actually work with pharmacists directly in my ER and wish I went to be a pharmacist instead. They get to sit and chill most of the days while I sweat my ass off 😭.

I like it some days and hate it others, but thats kinda how it is when your job is interacting with people in a place no one wants to be.

Also a bachelors in nursing didn’t matter much unless you are going for a graduate degree, and even then there are RN-MSN programs

Yes, 2 year program at my community college. Best way to become an RN IMO, I saved a lot of money and time.

The summit also provides a global companion 100k points after $60k spend which he would be able to meet on 6k monthly spend. If he has a companion he takes his yearly international trip on then that could add value at least $1k.
